2nd Trimester

Alright Ladies...Yeast Infection Question

So I think I have the beginnings of a yeast infection Sad...Pre-preggers I was an ol' pro at these (unfortunately)...and yes, I know, I WILL call my doctor tomorrow for the professional advice and decision making re: meds etc...but until then, I'm just curious, have any of you had one while preggers?  What did your OB prescribe for you?  Pre-preggers, my doctor used to prescribe diflucan, and that usually did the trick, but I'm not sure if that's on the safe drug list.  I checked the book that I have, it says in the grand scheme of things, they're pretty minor, even while prego, but...can we say IRRITATING!!!

TIA!!!

Re: Alright Ladies...Yeast Infection Question

  • Definitely can get them while preggers. I am on my third and didn't have them before. My dr. tells me to take Monistat 7,. Good Luck and I hope it clears up fast. I know how irritating they are.

  • Fortunately I haven't had one while pregnant but I'm pretty sure Monistat is fine.  They might want you to use the 7 day one since it has the lowest concentration of active ingredient.

  • I haven't been so lucky yet in this pregnancy but I also understand that Monistat 7 is the way to go. The generics are pretty cheap, which is a plus.
  • My doc just told me I had one (I didn't even know....how is that possible) and prescribed Diflucan. It was a one-time-only pill and the infection went away quickly.
  • Thanks ladies for the advice...I'm sure my doc will prescribe something similar!  And in researching it a little bit over the last hour, they do seem to be more common than I thought while PREGGERS...yes, "Leah&Jack" PREGGERS...sorry YOU can't stand it, but I was asking for opinions on a medical condition, not on how I write!  Hahaha!! PREGGERS PREGGERS PREGGERS!!! What I can't stand is people telling other people things they don't like about their post, when it has NOTHING to do with the topic of the post!  Geeze!

But thank you everyone else for the advice and sharing of experiences...I really do appreciate it!! xo

  • My doctor would not give me diflucan. She said just to use monistat
  • Woah, ladies.  We're all raging w/hormones, but really?

That being said.. I'd never had a yeast infection in my life until I got pregnant!  When I was @ my last check up my dr said it looked like I had a slight one (I didn't have any symptoms so it must have been) & that Monistat was completely fine to take.  I took Monistat 1 & it's gone.  GL!
