Really stupid ?s about using the dishwasher for bottles

Sorry, I know these questions are stupid, but I rarely use the dishwasher and I've never used them for LO's bottles.  So here they are:

1. Do you use your regular dishwasher detergent - e.g. Cascade?

2. Do you need that basket for the nipples and bottle tops or can I just use the insert that comes with my dishwasher for utensils?

I end up with so many pieces/parts that I am very glad that I have the baskets.  I like the Munchkin brand ones best.

  • I use regular detergent and I have the basket. I find that things have a tendency to fly around other wise.

  • We use regular stuff for my pump parts and I put the small pieces in a little basket.  I do know we can't wash the laytex drop-ins nipples in the dishwasher though so on the rare occasion he gets a bottle we hand wash them.

  • I use regular detergent and put everything on the top rack, per the instructions that came on the box when I bought the bottles.  I'm not sure if that applies to all bottles or just Dr. Browns.  We have a basket on the top rack of our dishwasher.

  • We use reg dish detergent, and put the nipples and tops in the utensil basket.
  • I use cascade and we have the basket. I would think the one that with the dishwasher would be fine if you can put it on the top rack. I am pretty sure most nipples and such have to be top rack.

  • I use Cascade on the bottles, rings and plastic caps.

All nipples get a good handwashing with a bottle brush in fragrance free Dawn. I use a small basin rather than the whole sink so it's sanitized.

  • 1. I use Cascade

    2. I put everything in the top rack...not the silverware "tray".  I do have those mesh things and that is actually where I put them so they stay in one place.
