Day Care Help?

Hi-

I'm about 14 weeks along and my H and I are starting to think about daycares since I've heard that the waiting lists can be pretty long. But I am at at complete loss as to where to start looking and I don't know anyone who does use a day care to ask.

I live in the and work in the east bay, as does my H. I'm hoping for something in Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, Albany, or El Cerrito.

Any help on where (how?) to start looking or suggestions on daycares you know about would be very much appreciated.

I have no resources for the east bay so I'm sorry, I can't help you there. I began my search by scouring craigslist. I contacted those that I liked and asked for references and checked their license status. I contacted all of the references too. It took me weeks to go from finding the ads to calling the providers...I was in denial about going back to work for a long time!

Also, it's never too early to look to find a few that you like...but you might find that many of the daycares won't know what their future availability is just yet. Good luck!
