I've posted before about a mom in our playgroup who I just don't agree with on any level. Blatant abuses of public assistance just fire me up.
She's due with #2 in May and is now throwing herself another shower. She's invited all the playgroup, "Please let me know if you can come by Friday and here's my address if you can't come so you can drop off a gift."
Um, no and no.

dude. what kind of playgroup is that? is she the rotten tomato?
she sounds all kinds of klassy and i'm not even anti-2nd-shower. but saying "so you can drop off a gift" is completely tasteless.
This. The rest of the gals and kiddos are great. We're all have different views on parenting but for the most part it means I've learned a lot from each other too.

You betyourass I'll be having a 2nd shower, just because it's typical in our family. Especially if it's a boy.
However, I think I would have to smack her once, and then backhand her afterwards. I'm mean like that though. My response would be "I'm sorry, I only do showers for good friends". Especially since she doesn't care if you're there, and only wants a gift. Hobag.

I'm not anti-2nd shower. But to throw it for yourself? Throw any shower for yourself?
I thought we were bending the rules when my mom hosted a shower for my girlfriends. But she just wanted to have all the girls at her house.

Oh gosh no. I don't think I'd throw even a first one for myself. A 2nd is just ridiculous...although it seems her life follows that sort of feeling lol There are subtle ways to ask for gifts, but she might as well just say "I don't want you there, just your gift".
