Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

question of the CENTURY

what do you do when your toddler pulls the outlet cover off the wall and breaks it into a million pieces? we're on our second one in his room...

And I'm talking the big plastic piece that covers the whole outlet, not just the little plug covers--he can get those off too.

Re: question of the CENTURY

  • Oh wow, how does he manage that? Isn't it screwed into the wall?

yeah..it is I have no idea how he does it because he does it during naptime (he's in a toddler bed)

and other pp, yes I did in fact give birth to HULK.

    Freakin' Hilarious....

  • Sadly we have the same problem.  Last time it happened we screwed a new one on & then duct tapped that mo fo on so he can't even get near the edges to lift it up & crack it.  Give it a shot, can't hurt.  Oh & we also duct tapped what ever is plugged in there too.  That crap is NOT coming off , but the downside is when we need to remove it we will probably have to repaint that part of the wall.  Pros & cons :)

well i don't think you want him to take off the whole thing...but he could get the little plugs out for you :)

  • Do you use those outlets? DH took off the plug on the one near DD's bed and replaced it with one of those blank plates because she pulls out the plastic things.

  • You could put a clear box over it with a little hole at the bottom for plugs to come through.  But if he's unscrewing the whole plate, then you'd have to find a different box than the one my mom used to put over the AC controls.  She was very stingy about the house temperature.  Cheap skate!

but that's what he's pulling off, the whole plate... he would get a blank one off just as easily as one that has holes for the plugs I would think...

  • Ohh! I thought you were talking about the babyproofing outlet covers that go over the one that's part of the house...

holy crap! I have no idea. maybe you'll have to block them all with furniture.
