We all know how hard bedrest is and we wish everyone a healthy pregnancy!!!! Anyone is welcome to join, and anyone can start this daily thread. Just copy and paste this paragraph and info lines below if you get here and the thread has yet to start for that day!

Name - Michelle

Due Date - 4/20

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 14wks

Type - Modified Home Bedrest

Why ? Herniated Disks in Back/ now contractions

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- We have a lot of the main stuff and if Livy were to come home tomorrow, we'd be ok.  We still need a few things like the baby monitor and baby bath, but we have the main bases covered.

Updates- I was terribly sick last night.  It was like the worst of the morning sickness all over again.  I was up all night and kept my poor DH up too.  I'm really bummed, because my niece is in town for a benefit my DH has put together for her tonight.  So, today was going to be a big day where I broke the rules.  I was going to go swimming with my niece during the day (don't worry, just floating) and tonight go to the benefit.  I'd be sitting the whole time, but I'd get to see the bands and hang out with friends.

Well, now I'm stuck in bed because I don't feel good and my back got trashed with puking and my stomach muscles hurt.  P*ss on this, I say!  Sorry ladies, I just had to vent.  I love my little niece so much and haven't been able to spend time with her since getting put on bedrest and it breaks my heart.  But I'm hoping that I'll be able to go to the benefit tonight, so please send some "feel great fairy dust" my way if you can.

**I hope you all are doing well.  I didn't get to go on the computer last night till really late, so missed the check-in.

    Due Date - 4/21

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 12/18 at 22w1d

Type - Strict bedrest at home

    Why ? short cervix

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- We have next to nothing.  We ordered cribs and mattresses, and bedding, but the cribs and mattresses have not arrived yet.  I am having a shower in 2 weeks, so I am hoping we'll get more stuff at that point.  But if I had the babies today, we'd have to run out and buy the car seats or else our babies wouldn't be allowed home with us!  We've been given hand-me-down stuff but most of it is random and certainly not what we'll need right away.

I am also going to have to go out and buy some preemie onesies and stuff for the babies.  Even if I make it to 36 weeks, these boys will not be much more than 5 lbs.

And our nursery is an empty room that needs to be patched, sanded, primed, and painted.  Thank goodness bedrest is doing its job!

Update - 30 weeks today!  And still pregnant.  Just thankful for all we have: my continuing pregnancy, feeling my boys wiggle inside of me, a wonderful marriage, a warm house in the middle of these snow storms, and family and friends who constantly stop by to visit and bring me food and groceries.  Bedrest might stink but I am so incredibly lucky.

** Michelle-- I'm so sorry you have been sick!  That sounds so miserable!  I hope you feel better and do end up having some fun.

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- We have a crib, only because my other son is sleeping in it as a toddler bed. (It's one of those that converts) So, we will have to get him a big boy bed. My friend is mailing the car seat from out of state. That's about all we have!  I'll have to order some stuff online because we're not having the baby shower until after he's born.

Update- 25 weeks today!  I've never been this pregnant before, haha. Everything is stable. I got back to the doctor tomorrow for a cervical length check.

  • Becca....Congrats on making it to 30wks!  It's such a crazy milestone, isn't it?  I can't believe how far along we are..and truly blessed to still have our babies cookin!

It's can be stressful not having stuff done, huh?  We didn't get our stuff set till last week and I was panicking with every contraction.

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 16 weeks and again monday (2/8) at 31 weeks

Type - strict bedrest at home

Why ? low amniotic fluid levels

Question of the Day - I have 95% of everything. I have their clothes all washed and put away, cribs set up, changing table set up...nursery pretty much done. ((i started nesting early i guess)

I pretty much just need babies!Wink

  • Name - Lauren

    Due Date - 3/23

Date Placed on Bedrest - all 1st tri-16 weeks, was admitted to the hospital 1/4

    Type - Strict hospital bedrest

    Why ? IUGR

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- We have the basics covered: crib, changing table, glider, carseat, stroller, a few diapers, wipes, moby wrap...but none of our stuff is organized or put together or ready to go--I had my 1st shower Dec 27th, went to L&D 1/1, and was admitted to the hospital on 1/4 so basically all our shower presents are sitting in the gift bags still piled in our guest bedroom, I have my 2nd (and last) shower this Sat at the hospital so hopefully we will get the few things still on our registry and some preemie clothes (none of the clothes we have gotten so far will be even close to fitting anytime soon) I figure we will have sometime after I am discharged while Little buddy is in the NICU to actually get stuff organized--I just am hoping to not have a c-section b/c then it will be even longer till I am able to move around/get stuff situated but we are incredibly blessed to at least HAVE everything

Updates- I argued w/ insurance today and got them to approve the previously denied claim--so I am "covered and approved" until Feb 14th which is great except I know I will for SURE be here until at least the 16th when my next u/s is...Im hoping that they wont fight the next extension my dr. files but if they do well--we will go from there I guess? Insurance stuff sucks but at least we have it and at least I have some experience dealing w/ hospital bills/medical bills from my 1st tri experience

**michelle--sending healthy mama dust your way! Hopefully you are feeling better! I HATE having those nights when my m/s likes to flare its ugly head--there is no rhyme or reason to it but it seriously knocks a bedrest mama OUT!

    Due Date - 5/11

Date Placed on Bedrest - 23 weeks (at home), 26 weeks (hospital)

Type - strict bedrest in hospital

    Why ? short cervix, IUGR

Question of the Day - I am way behind! The nursery is painted and the furniture is ordered. Other than that we have NOTHING! I will probably register online, then send DH to Babies-R-Us to look at what we picked and change anything, if needed. I won't have a shower until after the baby is born, so I haven't given registering much thought. I think I need to get on this!

Update: Day 8 in the hospital. I'm happy to have made it to 27 weeks, but it's hard to think about being here until I deliver. I'm hoping that delivery is many weeks away, but the thought of being away from home for so long is tough to handle.

Date on bedrest: 26 weeks (1/22/10)

    Type: strict at home

    Why: PTL/1cm dilated

    QOTD:

I feel lucky that we have almost everything we need. My mom was here last week and washed all the baby clothes, blankets, sheets, etc. and organized the nursery (under my supervision Stick out tongue) We have all 3 cribs and mattresses but only one set up right now. We're missing things like a diaper pail and bathtub, but we could probably take care of the babies just fine at this point with what we have.

Update: nothing new since my Tuesday u/s. Just counting the days!

**michelle - sorry you were so sick!

**becca - yay for 30 weeks!

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- We have almost everything (that we know of) thanks to a shower my sisters threw last weekend--for which I got a hall pass! Our nursery is just about finished! I attached a link below for those of you who want to see (if you saw it on my other post, sorry for the repetition!) However, if our lady is insistent on making her debut early, DH will be making a mad dash to get some preemie clothing--and she will undoubtedly end up wearing something with a skull on it...

Update - Had an u/s this morning. My doctor didn't see the need, but I don't think he wanted to argue with me either (I've asked for one at my last 3 appointments). Gotta love a persistent pregnant lady :) Our girl is weighing in at 5 pounds! HUGE sigh of relief...

I hope you girls feel better, slash stay strong with those pesky insurance companies (so annoying), slash keep your head up while inpatient, and so forth!

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- All I have is a crib and mattress, nothing else, my husband asked me to hold off buying anything until 28 weeks, at 32 weeks he is suppose to put the crib together.  Oh I did buy a going home outfit yesterday online.

Updates- Have my two appointments tommorrow with regular ob and high risk doc, just looking to get out the house, even though last week I was so tired just from going to my appointment last week.

I hear this echo in my head....three cribs, three cribs, three cribs....

I'm trying to picture that in a nursery.  It makes the idea of triplets seem very "real" in a way, I guess.  Before, I've always just been amazed when I see your siggy at the idea of three LO's in your belly swimmin around, but the cribs thing.  Whoa...  I hope this doesn't seem offensive, since I'm sure it's hit you like a ton of bricks.  I think all babies are blessings and have never considered the logistics of what you face for even the basic things like cribs.  Props to you Momma!

    Due Date - 6/5

Date Placed on Bedrest - 1/15 at 20 weeks

Type - Strict Bedrest at Home

    Why ? Incompetent Cervix

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- I don't own one baby thing.  I'm waiting for a few more weeks to get moving on this.

Updates- Nothing too new to report.  Just hanging in there.  I can't believe it's been almost a month that I've been on bedrest.  The days seem to drag by, but looking back- it has gone pretty fast.

I'm still spotting from the cerclage procedure- which is a little scary.  But I called the doc today and they said it's totally normal.  I'm looking forward to next Thurs. for an update.

Michelle- Sorry you got to miss your big cheat day.  Definitely sucks.  I hope you feel better soon.

Lauren- You must be getting so excited that you're getting close!  And congrats on winning the battle with your insurance carrier.  I work in a medical office, and it's my job to fight with them, so I know what a headache that can be.  But, they're nothing against a woman who has nothing but time on her hands and the fury of them not covering what is so obviously medically necessary.  Good job!

Becca- Congrats on 30 weeks!  You must be thrilled.  And it seems like you're really keeping things in perspective with being grateful for your blessings.  It's a nice reminder for me to do the same.

    Type - Strict Home Bedrest

    Why ? Hypertension; pre-e risk

Question of the Day - Do you have lots of stuff for your LO already or do you still have a lot to do to get ready?

Answer- Both.  We have a lot of stuff, but I feel like there's so much more we need.  And, I'm constantly feeling like there are essential things we are forgetting or don't know about.

Updates-  I had an OB appointment today and it went well.  I think they've become desensitized about my bp.  It was 140/90 and the OB I saw today was like "Oh, it's not THAT high.  The medical assistant was freaking out!"  And she just laughed.  So, that made me feel pretty good.  I was happy that I didn't have to go back to L&D.

We are having record snow in the Dallas area.  It's nothing really compared to places that normally get a lot of snow and places like DC.  But, we've gotten about 8 or 9 inches, which is A LOT for Dallas.  In fact, we've never gotten this much snow EVER.  Pretty cool and it's so pretty.  I wish I could get out and play in it.....
