Yesterday we had a sac but no baby. The sac was measuring 5w1d instead of 5w6d. The doctor wasn't worried because he said that could be normal. He called this morning and now he is worried. My numbers were over 30,000. He said that is to high to not have seen anything. He tried to offer hope that the u/s just missed seeing the baby but he really didn't seem to hopeful. He is bringing me back in on Monday to look for the baby and check my numbers again. If we don't see the baby on Monday then he said something would have to be done to end the pregnancy.
I know it is a long shot but please pray that my LO is just a slow grower and will have a heartbeat on Monday.

Same med protocol as last time, but heparin continued until delivery.

I do not remember all of the specific numbers since this happened in August. The same thing happened to me. I went in because I was spotting and I had an ultrasound and I forget what the sac was measuring, but it was in the 5-6 week range. The sac had a yolk sac in it but no fetal pole. My doctor told me if my numbers came back <8000, he would be hopeful. Well, my numbers came back around 18k. He told me he was not hopeful because with my numbers we should have at least seen a fetal pole. I had an ultrasound scheduled the week after and there was a little fetus with a heartbeat! I was never so surprised in my entire life.
There is hope and I am praying you have the same outcome!
i'm sorry you have to stress over this. i really hope you get good news. even though i charted and knew when i o'ed, i was (and accordingly still am) measuring almost a week behind. and even though my betas were really high, we still couldn't see anything but the yoke and gest sacs.i had to go back for three u/s, and it wasn't until i was 8.5 weeks (measuring 7.5) that they could finally see a fetal pole and heartbeat.
the only thing that gave me SOME hope throughout the u/s was seeing that there was some growth. for example, in the 6 week u/s, there was just a ges sac. in 7 weeks, there was a bigger ges sac and the begining of a yoke sac. so even though i was still measuring behind, the important thing was that there was growth. so even if you don't see a fetal pole and heartbeat on monday, i hope you see some growth, and i hope you and your dr are encouraged by that.

50 mg Clomid - BFP!! 8/3/12, EDD: 4/14/13 Beta #1 at 11 DPO - 24. Spotting like crazy, OB thinks m/c #3 is imminent. Beta #2 at 21 DPO - 1,899!! u/s at 5 weeks 2 days showed a gestational sac measuring right on track! WOOHOO! PLEASE STICK, MY LITTLE MIRACLE!
3/28/13 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAYSON JOSEPH! born at 37 weeks 4 days, 7 lbs 13.8 oz and 20 inches!
Oh no! I hope the doctor is wrong about it not looking good!
