Zofran users- Question

I was prescribed Zofran on Monday for severe nausea.  So far, it has worked wonders for me and I feel great.  But last night, I started getting stomach pains.  They feel more like gastrointestinal pains rather than uterus/period pains, but I'm still really worried.  They've gotten pretty bad.  It happened off and on all through the night, and this morning I'm still in quite a bit of pain.  I have no bleeding or anything like that, but I'm still worried.  I left a message for a nurse to call me back at my doc's office.  A close friend of mine used Zofran a few months ago for M/S and said she had stomach pains as well- so much that she had to stop taking it.

Is this normal?  Has anyone else experience stomach/abdominal pain from Zofran.  Not sure how worried I should be, and I actually hope it's related to the Zofran and nothing else....

Thanks!

Re: Zofran users- Question

  • I've had those moments, and honestly thought they were because of the constipation.  Zofran can cause constipation, and added to the natural effects of pregnancy,  plus the prenantal vitamin backup....it could just be that you're full of sh!t  :)  lol

  • I'm only on my 3rd or 4th day of Zofran. My OB told me I could take it 3 times a day if needed, but I only take one every night and it keeps the nausea down until the next evening. I haven't had any stomach pains that weren't cured by burping like a 12 year old boy. It does make me super sleepy though.

  • LOL... I actually hope that's it!  Not to be gross, but I have "gone" over the past few days.  But I can tell things are more backed up and slower than usual.  So I wouldn't say I'm all-out constipated, but maybe the slowing down issue could be causing it......

     Thank you!

  • Ditto the PP. I think it's just that you are backed up. I've been taking it for about a week  & just this morning had my first 'normal' movement. I've never been so relieved in my life.

  • Ditto for constipation. If you can stomach it, try eating apples, applesauce, oatmeal, up the fiber. It will help!
