the areas of Atlanta? I'm so confused.
I saw one of the post that said East Cobb. So does that mean that it is in Cobb County?
We have been here for two weeks on Friday and I'm ready to learn. We live in Fulton County, the kids go to school in Delkab County. That is about all I know.
Will you help a girl out so I can 'know' when someone says East Cobb I have a clue? TIA
Re: Will somebody explain
East Cobb is the eastern side of Cobb County which is the Roswell area. West Cobb is Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta area
Gwinnett can be referred to as Duluth, Norcross, Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Lawrenceville etc (just cities with in the county)
Alpharetta is North Fulton (i believe), NorthPoint area. Stone Mtn is Dekalb County
I know there are others but those are some off the top of my head.
Not sure if you know these yet or not:
ITP is inside the perimeter or inside I-285, OTP - outside the perimeter.
Fulton county is very oddly shaped so you have city of atlanta and north fulton which has alparhetta (which I can never spell correctly). Which for those of us ITP is pretty far away
Ok, that is helpful. So I'm probably considered right smack in the middle of East Cobb and West Cobb. Atlanta is really big in comparison to NC. We have lived in Boston/Houston/Philly, but Atlanta is by far the biggest.
Like I said...I'm new and confused.
I was just saying that if Roswell is considered East Cobb and Marietta is West Cobb that would put me in the middle.
OTP - outside 285 the perimeter
ITP - Inside the 285 perimeter
75 goes up to cobb
85 goes up to gwinnett
75 and 85 meet in Atlanta and become one.
There are about 71 streets named peachtree. Not to scare you or anything. But, I highly recommend a GPS like tomtom to find your way around Atlanta. I have lived here my whole life and I get lost easily.
Marietta is East Cobb...Roswell is Fulton. Marietta and Roswell are next door to each other.

Yeah, Roswell is in Fulton and Marietta is in East Cobb, not West Cobb. I believe there is a tiny portion of Roswell in Cobb, but most of it is in Fulton County. Are your kids in a private school? If they are in a public school they would be going to school in the county you live in.

Thanks girls for the help!
GPS - Check!
Map - Getting one tomorrow. LOL
My kids are in preschool right now. Since we did a mid year move most of the schools nearby were already full. I found a couple that had spots and then went with my gut. Unfortunately, it is almost a 30 minute drive down 400 on a good morning, but they love it! Come fall Teagan will start kindergarten in fulton county - still need to research the school zone we are in. Kyan will be in preschool, now just need to find a closer one to home.
LOL.....you live in Roswell - guessing Fulton county, very near East cobb....I actually know someone in Cobb county with a Roswell city address. I am assuming your school is in Dunwoody....which I beleive is actually very near me. Fulton county is so skinny at the top you are connected to everything. North Fulton is considered Roswell/Alpharetta/John's Creek/Milton and I guess Sandy Springs...its anything NOT in the Atlanta City Limits.
East Cobb is VERY close to you. I live in Sandy Springs and our preschool is in Roswell up on the River - just inside Holcomb Bridge Road. My regular shopping areas include East Cobb - Marietta, Roswell, Alpharetta, Dunwoody and the City of Atlanta. The great thing about the area is its easily accessible to so many other places.
Julie - Your right and thanks so much for your help earlier this year!!!! We live in Alpharetta, but everyone I talk to says we live in Roswell/Alpharetta line. We live minutes from Centennial High School and Super Target which is Roswell East.
The kids go to school in Dunwoody off of exit 6, that holcombe bridge traffic always takes the longest. Dh works off of exit 5, Sandy Springs.
I do love how close we are to everything, North Point is only a few minutes away as well.
I actually have a Roswell address but am in East Cobb.
You are east of Holcomb Bridge Rd which is Fulton County. Right on Roswell/Alpharetta line. We almost moved near Centinnial to Horseshoe Bend. There use to be a little gym over there we went to but it closed.
Ha, the names here are so confusing (That's where I came up with the name of my blog).
When we first moved here I spent 45 minutes looking for a restaurant on West Peachtree Street. Silly me didn't know that was an ENTIRELY different street than Peachtree Street NW.

Yeah, it is confusing! Where are you from in NC? We moved here from Burlington when I was in highschool. I went to Carolina and moved back after graduation.
Personally, Cobb Co. always confuses me. I think it's the whole Upper/Lower Roswell Rd. thing : ) I'm great ITP, but OTP is a different story. Definitely get a good map of Atlanta; at least as a visual to help you out at first.
I've been here 10 mos. and still confused....invest in a GPS..it will save your life.
We are from High Point, NC about 1 hour away from Burlington. I grew up in Greenville, SC and went to college in Charleston.
