I'd say get one. I don't know if there are better ones out there, but we still use the diaper genie for our 3.5 year old (for nighttime pull-ups) It sucks having to take them out to the garbage each time and if diapers are left in an indoor garbage for more than a day or two, they reek, even just pee ones.
I registered for the Arm & Hammer diaper pail. From what I read, it got the best reviews!!
I registered for this one as well...after reading review from what seems like ALL of them! We live in an apartment, so a diaper pail is a MUST for us, since I am not going to take the trash out after every change and even not pregs I have a super sensitive smeller.
I cloth diaper, so I just got a small, lidded plastic trash can from the dollar store. Since the lid snaps on, it doesn't get stinky in her room ~ actually, it's a lot less stinky than some nurseries I've been in with the genie/champ.
We aren't spending the money on a diaper pail or asking anyone else to either. We're going to get a small plain white trash can with a lid. From experience of stepping into different nurseries, ones with Genies/Champs and ones with the covered trash can method, I have def noticed that the Genies/Champ rooms smell more.
I think the simple trash can would work just fine but I have def heard some moms swear by their Geinie.....
Yes. I got the diaper champ based on a rec from one of my friends. She said she liked the diaper champ better than the diaper genie because you could just attach regular grocery store bags to it. Also there's a little cutout thingie on the top where you put the diaper and then you pull a handle and it pulls the cutout forward and into the pail (not sure if I'm explaining that correctly) and then you don't have to touch the diaper. She said with the diaper genie, she had to physically shove the diaper into the pail which she found gross. So we'll see but so far I think I like it.
I have a few friends that swear by the Diaper Champ - can use regular garbage bags and they say it holds the smell better than Diaper Genie. I guess I'll find out if they're right soon!
We got something similar to the diaper genie/champ. It has a lid and deoderizer but will take regular tall trash bags. We'll see how it works but it's what my sister did/does and it's worked for her. I've never noticed a smell in my nephew's nursery.
I purchased the Diaper Genie II Elite with a Target gift card. I was so close to buying the Diaper Champ. However, Baby Bargains gave the Diaper Genie the best rating. Therefore, I decided on the Diaper Genie. I haven't used it yet though, since LO isn't here yet. I think it's "to each their own"...some will say it's a must, some will say to skip it. It's all up to you. Personally, I figured it couldn't hurt to try it.
We registered for one, but not a diaper genie since we didn't want to have to shell out extra money to buy the refills. Instead we are getting ours at BBB and it takes batteries and has a fan but you can use regular garbage bags. It was about the same price as the genie.
I second this. The Diaper Champ can use regular bags. We spray lysol in it after each bag change to keep down the smell inside. Also, we got it for about $13 at Burlington Coat Factory/Baby Depot.
