anyone NOT having a 1st bday party?

none of our family lives in town and most of our friends dont have kids. a few will have infants by then, but not party age kids.

I mean, I'm sure will get her a cake and a hat...but I dont see any point in a party...I can picture it now, people playing beer pong at a first bday party.

    I think there will only be 4 kids at DD's party. Only a couple of our friends have kids. Plus, my bro's FI has 2 kids.

    lol you can make it your own party! lol as long as you make is special for them it doesn't matter.

    We're going to have a get-together but I probably won't send out formal invitations or have fancy decorations or anything. It will be mostly family (8 cousins) and MAYBE a few close friends.

    we moved over here recently so we don't have many friends but I have to do her a 1st bday party, it's very important for me to do it. we'll have over an 8 yr old and a 14month old + like 18 adults, but I don't care we have to celebrate her 1st year with us anyways but that's just me

    We really contemplated not having a party for a couple reasons.  I know every 1st birthday is emotional in it's own way, but it's going to be especially difficult for us I think with everything we went through (went into labor at 19 weeks, bedrest, hospital bedrest, then delivered a preemie with complications) and I just wasn't sure I wanted to celebrate with more than just my own little family of 3.

    Only my brother and sister live by us so all the rest of the family would have to travel at least 3 hours to be here.  But...they all really wanted to be a part of it so we decided to have the party.  It's only immediate family and our 3 closest friends though.  

    We are spending the actual day of DS's birthday just the three of us together so we figure we're getting that time to ourselves after all.

    ours is going to be really really small.  Everyone lives out of state. So it will just be a couple close friends.  No kids because there isn't any. My mom and dad willbe flying in and thats it. I dont want to fly up to NJ yet again. and have a party.  its just too much plus going to the bahamas a week after that.

    We are traveling to Florida to have DS's party, since that's where our family is.  We have several friends with kids where we live, but I know that it will be important to our family that they are there.  Yes, it's a huge pain in the @ss, but I think it will be worth it to have our whole family there.
