Anyone affected by the Toyota recalls?

I have an '07 Camry, and am getting the gas pedal repaired tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be a big deal. We took the floor mat out months ago. Our dealership doesn't have the supplies to repair that yet. I wondered if anyone had gotten the repairs yet?

I guess it's a good thing I planned to keep this car for a long time, considering I bet I couldn't get much for it right now. DH has always been a Honda person, but we took a leap of faith with the Toyota since they were supposed to be good too, and we got a great deal on my car. I do love my car, but we'll probably be going back to Honda next time...

Do any of you current Toyota drivers feel the same way? I guess this could happen to any auto manufacturer, but you know...

Re: Anyone affected by the Toyota recalls?

  • Me!  I honestly haven't even called the dealership yet! Embarrassed Maybe I'll do that today.  I don't know if my car falls into the floormat issue, but I don't have the factory mats, so it probably doesn't matter anyway.

Neither DH and I are bothered by this at all.  It seems like every car manufacturer has recalls at one point or another.  I still think that my Matrix is a great car.  Yeah, it sucks to have to schedule a time to take it in and have it fixed, but I'm not too worried about it.  At least they issued a recall.  I had crazy problems with my Miata and Mazda definitely should have done a recall for the issue (which was common with Miatas) but they didn't, and I had to put up a big fight to get it fixed within the warranty period.  I have way more issues with that than with what's happening with Toyota... but I'd still buy another Mazda too.  ;)

ETA: I just called and set-up my appt to get mine fixed.  Yes

  • I don't think our car is a part of it, but I will continue to buy Toyotas.  Our families have been Toyota families for hte last 15 years and I can see the value in the cars/SUVs/Trucks we have all had.

  • So far the model year for our Matrix ('07) hasn't been part of the recall. I keep checking though, just in case. I'm not all that bothered by the recall at this point. At least they're doing a recall and trying to figure out and fix the problem.

  • We are a toyota family but neither of our cars are included in the recall. I have an '05 Camry and dh has a '97 4 runner.  I think they have done an excellent job identifying the problem and finding a way to fix it. We are a very happy toyota family and more than likely will continue to be in the future. Dh's 4 runner has over 215K miles on it and just keeps on going. And my Camry is great.
And I think I heard on the news last night that Honda is having a recall too.

  • I have an '04 Corolla that's been unaffected by the recalls. We had been planning to trade my car in for a larger vehicle in the next 12-18 months and considered changing our plans to purchase now b/c we figured we could get a new Toyota at a steal. We probably won't, but it sure is tempting!  So the recalls have obviously not changed our opinion of the company.
