how long to use the peri bottle?

I can't remember if I was ever told how long to use the peri bottle after going pee. It still feels good on my stitches so I'm not ready to stop yet, but when can I go back to normal wiping?

Re: how long to use the peri bottle?

  • I was told 6 weeks. Seems like overkill, but it does feel good!

  • i stopped using the peri bottle when i didn't need it anymore (when the burning stopped). I also gradually started wiping normal when I didn't need the peri.

    This.

  • you can squirt some breast milk on your stitches instead. lol! totally kidding! but couldn't resist...  how's your DC's eye goop?
  • I dab-wiped from the beginning in addition to the peri...(which I will admit to still using here and there).  As far as real wiping...It still stings a bit for me but I can finally do so without any red streaking (which I half believe was just bleeding anyways).  GL

Haha. His eye was looking so much better earlier today but the discharge came back tonight. He goes to the doctor Thursday for his 2 wek checkup so we were told judt to clean it with a warm wash cloth for now. Poor guy did have a gunky eye for his newborn pictures yesterday though.

This. ?My stitches stopped hurting really quickly, ?but they do itch when they're coming out; the bottle helps.

  • I used it at every bathroom trip for the first 3 weeks.  I wasn't taking any chances.  I patted to wipe for the first 3 weeks too.  It wasn't until the fourth week that I started "wiping" again.

  • After reading this post, I am really glad I had my c-section.  That whole "tougher recovery" thing is a load of hooey, I think.....

If it still feels good, keep using it. I think I used it for 4 weeks or so after DS. It depends on how bad your stitches are.
