Never will I Ever...in terms of parenting...

...finish the beginning with what you will never do when it comes to raising your kids.

For me...never will I ever drive a mini van (no offense), not say I love you when I put you to sleep, make you do a sport you dont like just because you are good at it(my parents did this to me).

Re: Never will I Ever...in terms of parenting...

  • say never :)   seriously there are so many things that i already said i would never do and in 3 years and heck in the first few weeks those all go out the window.   parenting is something where you fly by the seat of your pants and saying "never" pretty much seals the deal that at some point you will!  (again per my experiences thus far!)
  • Loading the player...
  • I always said i would never drive a minivan either!!! If my Honda civic gets too crammed I will buy some sort of SUV, but a minivan is out of the Question!
  • Do everything for my kids. I refuse to raise co-dependent kids who act like they can't do anything for themselves.

I second this!  I love my sister-in-law, but she does EVERYTHING for her kids and she wonders why they are so rude to her...they treat her like crap because they expect way too much from her!

  • I always said I never wanted a mini van.  Guess what?  I got one last February and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!  The sliding doors are the best thing ever when trying to get little ones and carseats in.

Oh, and bonus, we have a big engine and I can beat stupid young guys in sports cars off the line at a stop light.  True story: I was sitting at a light one day.  This kid (he looked somewhere between 16-20 years old) looked at me from his tiny little sports car and revved his engine.  I just smiled at him knowing my engine was bigger and I"d beat him.  Sure enough, I did, and at the next light about a 1/2 mile down the street he pulled up next to me and kept his head down.  Never under-estimate a minivan mom! Smile

I've learned to never say never.  Things I said I'd never do I find myself doing.

  • LOL at all the never say never replies. For the most part, I agree. But I certainly think there are many things that you can say never to, and be confident about it.Some examples...

I will never burn my child with cigarettes.

I will never allow my child to ride without a car seat, as long as they are still using one.

I will never starve my children.

    ; )

  • I've learned to never say never, because I'm already catching myself doing things I'd say I'd never do. One thing I really don't want to ever do is say "Because I said so" to my kids when I discipline them. My parents always said that, and I hated it. I wish they would have told me why they wouldn't let me do something instead of because they said so.

    This!

  • We have a Honda Odyssey and love it, lol.

I will never spank my kids.  I know I will lose my temper and yell at them but I just don't like spanking.

  • i will never smoke crack w/ my children  Stick out tongue
  • never will i ever let hayden and her future siblings feel like they aren't special in their own ways and i will never discourage them from going after what they want in this world.

never will i ever tolerate my children being bullies to others.

never will i ever let the sun set on them without a hug and a kiss good night.

never will i ever be the "helicopter mom" a lot of my friends are - hovering over your kids and doing everything for them and never letting them fail may seem like it will keep them from getting hurt, but it does them no services in the end.

  • I will never. ..

throw my child outside in the snow-even though i really want to somedays

starve her-though she may never want to eat what i serve when i serve it-so we have chips, popcorn and other random things for breakfast cuz hey its food right

sell her off-again even though somedays i'd let the lowest bidder take this on!

as a parent i will always have my sense of humor-and will never lose that-as i can't take myself too seriously and do this job!

Never say never about a mini van.  I hate them but it looks like with three kids I'm facing one in the future.  Right now we are making due with my SUV but I know when they all hit school and do things like sports and all that I'll need the space.  :(

  • Lots of things, drive a mini van is one!

  • I will never spank/physically reprimand my children.  And also never take her to McDonald's as a "treat", let her drink Kool-Aid or eat Twinkies. Seriously.
  • Never will I ever say I'll never do something.

Except for ONE thing. I will NEVER take my infant or toddler to a movie theater. Ever. Never ever ever. It's so unfair to other movie goers, and is one of my biggest pet peeves.

    That's it.

Ditto on both accounts. I wish I had gotten the minivan when we had baby #2, but I was too stubborn. And, after 3 kids, I've learned to never say never...it'll come back and bite you in the arse at some point.  I never go to bed without checking on them and making sure that they're ok; if I don't, I can't sleep.

We are going the suburban route next December...I will say that we live in the country off gravel roads...for us...a mini van wont cut it in bad weather...
