Re: ***GD Tuesday Check IN***
New to the list
Real Name Celine/Age 33/Due 7/4/10-c-section on 6/8- diet controlled.
No issues with supplies yet. I'm using an accucheck avia meter and strips.
No guilty pleasures yet, but I'm craving M&M's.
Got bumped up in my insulin units this week - feeling MUCH better on the insulin than the glyburide - just didn't work out so great for me - and I think we have *finally* found the right combo... my fastings are great, my one hours are great - phew!!
Have my regular appt/NST today - fingers crossed I am not showing any bigger than last week - last week I measured 43 weeks at 35!!! Also have my growth scan on Friday so will know what the 'plan' is for when Little Miss will be arriving - can't believe it is already almost here!!! ACK!!!
I have not had any trouble with insurance and supplies - Accucheck for me too!
Guilty pleasure - hmmm..... well, I would have to say my peanuts and semi-sweet chocolate chips (it HAS to be semi-sweet or it doesn't taste right!)... oh and weight watchers chocolate crunch ice cream bars - YUM!
We're still trying to get my fasting number under control but it is coming down. Up to 34 units of insulin before bed now.
Question of the Day: Have you had any issues with insurance? Are your testing supplies covered? What type of meter are you using?
I received my tester and pens for injections free from the provincial diabetes clinic. My insurance thankfully covers the majority of my insulin, strips and needles. It will cost us about $100 total over the remainder of my pregnancy for supplies. Without insurance it would run us $4-500 minimum.
Menu: Guilty Pleasure! Give it to us? maybe I shouldn?t be eating this? but? it seems ok?..Ice cream
Specifically B&J's Cheesecake Brownie. For some reason it doesn't affect my numbers at all.
no insurance issues yet....i get a discount on my testing supplies i think if i get them with the prescription so i've been doing that. i still have to pay for them though (it's about $30/month supply)
my guilty pleasure is chocolate ice cream. i eat some almonds beforehand, and then i just enjoy my half cup (ok, maybe a LITTLE bit more) for a snack. it makes me so happy.
New here also. brewtowngrl/ 33/ due may 2/ diet
I have been afraid to go off my diet as of yet. I was only Dx on Thursday. Numbers are still a bit high, but I think I can keep it under control with diet.
Everything is free. Accucheck meter.
QOTD: no insurance issues and everything is covered. I'm using the Accu-check Aviva monitor.
Menu: I've had pizza twice and both times it's been fine. I made chicken enchiladas and they were fine too. I was really happy that I could eat them.
QOTD: I have good insurance coverage - testing supplies run me about $7 a month.
Menu: I don't think I do anything that is too far off the diet. I have bagels sometimes - but they are mini-bagels w/only 20 grams of carbs - and I only have one. Sometimes I have Special K Red Berries cereal - but only half a cup - and again - that's around 22 grams of carbs - so still allowed. Have not tried ice cream at all since I am afaid I would have a really hard time stopping at half a cup.
Hi, I'm new here. Just found out I have GD last week and went to the dietician last night.
mrsjenbry/Jennie/26/April 20, 2010/diet only
Question of the day: I will find out more today when I go pick up more supplies from my pharmacy. I will have to see when the bill comes from yesterdays appt to see how much my insurance covers. I am using OneTouch ultra mini.
Since I just started, no guilty pleasures yet... but I'm sure it won't take long!
Hi everyone!
I have a one touch ultra mini meter that I was given at my diabetes counselor meeting for free. My insurance has covered my strips, lancets and also my insulin injections (I take novalog and lantus). I pay 30 dollars copay for a pack of 5 of each insulin pens (not too shabby). So far everything has been going accordingly with them.
Ah...guilty pleasure! Well I have been craving lots of things. I did eat half a snickers the other day and surprisingly my numbers were okay. My numbers have been slightly low lately. I eat a lot of mint milano cookies as two of them are 16 carbs and haven't had any trouble although it feels like a cheat!
Question of the Day: Have you had any issues with insurance? Are your testing supplies covered? What type of meter are you using?
So far, I haven't had any insurance problems. My testing supplies were covered (not 100% but the usual coverage for prescriptions).
I am using a OneTouch UltraMini meter. It's pink. It reminds me that I'm having a baby girl...which makes me smile...and is one of the only reasons I haven't thrown it across the room when I get a bad number.
Menu: Guilty Pleasure! Give it to us? maybe I shouldn?t be eating this? but? it seems ok?..
Hmm...I think my guilty pleasure is lame. It's the occasional dab of Polaner All Fruit (Seedless Blackberry) Fruit Spread. It's all natural and sweetened with fruit juices...which means it's all sugar! But 1 Tbs is only 10 carbs. So I sneak it into my sandwiches every once in a while. I just can't go too long eating only peanut butter toast.
Like I said...lame.
Great idea! Thanks!!
Question of the Day: Have you had any issues with insurance? Are your testing supplies covered? What type of meter are you using?
Insurance covers the type of testing strips I use, which are One Touch Ultra.
Menu: Guilty Pleasure! Give it to us? maybe I shouldn?t be eating this? but? it seems ok?..
My guilty pleasure is ignoring the measurement of either peanut butter, or milk, when I want to have some. If I want PB on toast, and I am supposed to only have like 2 tsp, I just won't measure and use whatever is needed to cover my piece of toast. Since it's still healthy, I figure it's ok!
O13 March Siggy Contest: AnArChY (I do what I want- & I want FOUR GIFS!)
I need to update I'm now on glyburide in the morning.
I use the One Touch Ultra meter. My strips are covered but the 1st month I had to meet my deductible so they were really expensive. But now it's not too bad.
My guilty pleasure has been those tostino's pizzas. Or the other day DH & I had hooters & I ate fried pickles & sweet tea & my numbers were awesome!!
hi im new to the group!
