I'm a bag of emotions. I gave my resignation today knowing 100% that they would walk me out the door that day (in the industry I work in when you resign to go to work for the competition that's just the way it goes). Well my piece of sh!t boss tried to screw me one more time and told me he would honor my 2 weeks notice and that he needed me to work.
WTF, I was not expecting that at all and did not plan for it. I have things to do in the next two weeks to prepare for my move. No way around it I just can't work the two weeks. So, I'm at a loss as to what to tell my boss and tell him that I'm shocked since I've never seen this happen before and I wasn't expecting it and was not prepared for this response. He told me he'd give me the night to think over what I wanted to do.
Well...................tonight inbetween freaking out that I will have a bad record with the company (if I ever want to return I wouldn't be able to) for leaving without 2 weeks notice I get the idea to look up company policy.
Well eff my boss. Company policy states as clear as day that Employees resigning with a formal letter giving two weeks notice and leaving for a compeititor will be escorted from the building the same day their notice is given, without exception and paid for the two weeks. So he's trying to screw me into working the two weeks that little sh!t. So I logged onto my work email and set up a meeting with him and the HR Manager at 7:30am tomorrow morning and intend to show him the company's policy. Ha!
It just kind of stinks that I feel like I'm leaving on a bad note now. I hated my boss but really did like my job and the people I worked with.
Okay, vent over, glad I got that off my chest
Re: Giving resignation didn't go as planned :( (long, vent kinda)
oh my gosh what an ass! the same thing happened to me when I was in insurance. I gave my resignation (expecting to leave that day, because two others had resigned and been asked to leave immediately). My boss was such a bittch. She said "well we definitely need you till the end of your 2 weeks" and she said it in such a sickeningly condescending way with a smug look on her face. After about a week of going in, they told me that I could leave --still only a week early.
Good luck. That is crap!
Same thing happened to me once, I was so pissed! Except they made me stay the full 2 wks, lets just say they should have let me go!
