Recommend your crib mobile and/or play mat/gym

Never had a mobile for M, but thinking of getting one for #2. Any recommendations? Especially if you ever uttered this statement: "I put my sleepy baby in his/her crib and s/he stares at the mobile for a few minutes until s/he passes out". LOL, I remember wanting to strangle a couple moms in a moms' group who said that, but maybe it's worth a try?

I also need to get a new play mat/gym for #2. We had the Boppy Play Gym for M, but he was never too into it and the only thing that held his interest (musical butterfly) is broken.

  • I think Jacob became a put-in-crib-fully-awake-and-falls-asleep baby out of necessity. Solo night times led to one babe having to wait for me and often times it was easier to put Jake down in the crib than to wrangle Ty into one spot.

We do have a crib soother and it has been priceless. With that I can say that I can put him in there, even now, fully awake and he falls asleep.

We had the Rainforest Playmat and both boys LOVED it!!

ETA: neither of the boys cared for the mobile. We had one that projected stars onto the ceiling and played music- they never paid it any attention. I thought it was the coolest thing when I bought it and swore Ty would love it. lol.

  • Our playmat is the BOMB!  I seriously couldnt have mommied 2 without it! Its the baby einstein aquarium fish one. It has a musical light up thing that is great and you could use it for thecrib.

In teh crib though I love the seahorse. Its what helps him go to sleep on his own and know its sleepy time

  • we have the rainforest play mat too. Its looking for a temporary home until baby #2. Let me know if you want to borrow it : )
  • We still use our crib soother - the mobile we had didn't last long enough to hold her attention. Like a few minutes. The crib soother on the other hand, was like baby crack. She still turns it off and on when she wakes up.

I'm pretty sure it's the Rainforest one.

  • M loved his mobile but we used it mostly as something for him to do/look at when he was awake.

He had this play gym.  I liked it because the sun was great for entertaining him when he was tiny and that it has lots of places to attach more parts once he was really playing with the toys.

Thanks for the offer! I'm too afraid it would end up stained/damaged from spit-up and other baby fluids.
