NBR: Italy Vacation ?

This year is our fifth wedding anniversary, and want to take a nice trip.  It can only be for one week (Thanksgiving week)...and I was considering Italy.  Would it be worth it for only one week?  If so, what do you recommend as an itinerary?  One city only, or try to fit more in?

Also, I plan to be pregnant again...and I will probably be about 5 months...is it worth it?

  • Even if you go to Italy for a week it would definitely be worth it! We went for 2 weeks for our honeymoon and we did 4 different areas. I would recommend 2 close areas, Tuscany is wonderful and very relaxing for being 5 months pregnant. If you do decide to go, let me know and I can give you some tricks we learned and recommendations.

  • Do you have hotel suggestions?  I was just trying to look online and get an idea for the cost of the trip.

  • that sounds great. i have never been to italy, but would love to go one day soon.

as far as advice, dh and i went to london for 2 wks this xmas, and i can say that we didn't get to see everything i wanted to unfortunately. so if you are going to go for a wk, i would limit it to 1 city. esp if you plan to be pg. i was 4 mo, and i could def feel it. i got really tired by the end of the day. but i still thoroughly enjoyed myself, and it was great to experience that trip with baby. so i think it's totally doable. just make sure that you take shoes that are really comfortable since you'll be on your feet alot.

  • I will check with my hubby on the name of the place we stayed in Tuscany. I wouldn't recommend our hotel for you being pregnant because the bed was awful. It was actually an Agriturismo (farm) that we stayed at and it was about $80 a night. The other places we went Cinque Terre, Rome or Venice, I can definitely recommend hotels. I will get the list for you

  • Yes, definitely go, even if only for 1 week!  I would recommend Venice and then trying to also go to Florence or Rome.  It is wonderful!!!  If you decide to go to Venice, I highly recommend Locanda Orseolo B&B.  It's rated #1 with Trip Advisor and very worthy of that rating!
  • I would really like to go to Rome, Florence, and Venice.  I am thinking about leaving on Friday night (get to Rome Sat morning) and returning the following Sunday.  I just can't figure out how many days/nights to spend in each place.

What do you think, more days/nights in Florence, or Venice???

I would say more days in Venice than in Florence.  Really, you could do Venice in two days/one night.  I love Venice and the nights are so beautiful there, so I would personally want to stay 2 nights there, but you could do it in one.  I would say one night/one day in Florence should be plenty.  Rome is my least favorite place that I've been in Italy, but it's just one of those places you have to go if you are there.  There is soooooo much to see there, you really need a few days.  It's a big city, ya know...can be kinda dirty/scary...but there are alot of amazing and beautiful sights.  If you think you'll go back to Italy another time, you could skip Rome this time since you'll be preggers and do Venice/Florence/Pisa instead.  That may be a little less hectic and more relaxing.

  • The post below is from 2nd Tri, the girl taking the babymoon actually lives in Italy, it might help you.
