Sleep Positioners and Sharing a Crib

Hi Ladies,

Can you please tell me if you had your twins in a shared crib for the first weeks and also let me know if you used sleep positioners to keep them in place?  Both are now discouraged but the thought of them sleeping without a sleep positioner scares me.  Would love to hear what you are doing.

Thanks!

Re: Sleep Positioners and Sharing a Crib

  • We used sleep positioners and they co-slept for a little while.  They each had a side of the crib and we placed them vertically in the width of the crib (make sense?).  We didn't have any problems.

  • I used a positioner for Eli, he just needed to feel cuddled.  He could get out of it by about 4 mos, so we're done with it.  Gabi never used a positioner, she scoots all over the place.  They also shared a crib until about 4 mos,  I'd angle them with with heads toward the middle and their feet towards the front corners.  We separated them with Gabi started spinning and she'd kick Eli in the head.

  • Newborns placed on their backs don't move much other than throw their legs and arms (but they don't slide in the crib), so positioners may cause more problems than they are worth.  When they start to roll, you may need to worry then.

  • We are putting our twins in the same crib. We swaddle them and it works fine. Like a previous poster said, they can't move around too much other than flail their arms and legs. Once they start rolling over, we'll put them in separate cribs. My twins are 6 weeks.

We would swaddle them as well and put them into their sleep positioners :)

  • Ours slept in the same co-sleeper and then in the same crib for awhile.  We did not use sleep positioners because they were swaddled and didn't move.

  • We swaddled ours for a while, and they cosleep. We were given positioners, but we took them back. A waste of money in my opinion.
