Any moms EBF and do Weight Watchers?

I have been thinking about using WW to help loose some of the baby weight I have, I'd like to loose 15lbs before summer and then an additional 10lbs to get to my wedding weight.

Anyway, I was thinking of using WW and wanted another nursing moms opinion.  I did the calculator for points and it says I can have 33 pts, that seems like a ton and not sure it would really work. I thought the WW would be a good way to make sure I am getting enough but not too much. I know I need extra calories while EBF but this seems like a lot.  Anyone with experience, did it work for you is it worth all the tracking?  I have also started working out more but am afraid to do too much and it affect my supply.

 TIA

  • I don't EBF but I've done WW for almost 6 years.  I lost and kept off 138 pounds so the tracking does work if you take the time to make it work.

You get extra points for BF and they're necessary based on the calories you spend making all that milk.  Plus every decade in weight you go down and lose another point which helps you keep losing.  Good luck!

  • I was told dieting of any kind is not okay when breastfeeding because LO depends on you getting enough calories - 500 more than normal, so cutting is not an option.

It's frustrating though because I'm sure the longer I keep the weight on the harder it will be to get off.  I think the key is to make the calories healthy calories which WW does.

As long as you're calculating your points based on being a nursing mom, it should be okay.
