Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Clicky Poll: Monitor users

So, as I was sitting there watching TV (with the monitor next to me and clicking it onto the video view whenever he'd squirm) I was thinking how silly it is that I'm still using mine. We live in a two bedroom, one floor condo...lol. We never really "needed" to use it, but it made it easier when he'd just be moving to get comfy vs needing to eat/help back asleep. So, my question is:
[Poll]

Re: Clicky Poll: Monitor users

  • We still use ours. We live in a 3br, 1story house, but we have a split floor plan. DD's room is the furthest from ours and we wouldn't be able to hear her cry at night. Ours only kicks on when their is noise on her end, and it's not video, so I usually don't even notice it!

  • DS is 7 months tomorrow and we r still using our monitor--
  • we still use ours, we have a 2 story house and most of the evening while ds is sleeping he's upstairs and we're downstairs so it makes it easier to hear him if he cries
  • We live in a two storey house, so I use it if I'm downstairs and DH is on the xbox (otherwise I could hear him), if I'm in the kitchen, or if I can't sleep and I migrate to the couch.
  • I close DD's bedroom door at night because of our cat.  She also sleeps on the other side of the house.  Most of the time she  doesn't make a peep.  She just got over a cold and woke a few times during the night where I had to go and get her.

  • Dd is only 8 months we have a 3 bedroom, one story home.

We just bought it at christmas, and my main thought was that this summer she will be able to nap and I will be able to use the monitor outside.

I have a cousin who is five and since her bedroom is on the second story, her mom still uses a baby monitor!

  • I would stop using a monitor but I have a horrible fear that I need to keep using it until he is able to walk into our room.

  • We still use ours and plan to continue using it indefinitely.  I like to keep an eye on my little stinker.

  • Our room is upstairs and hers is downstairs so there would be NO way that we would hear her without a monitor and SO and I are quite heavy sleepers.

    This!!

I also still use the AngelCare for every nap and nighttime because I'm uber-paranoid.

  • Our bedroom is downstairs and LOs is upstairs, so we will continue to use ours for a while.  Especially when we put the doors back on the steps (when she is walking) since we wouldn't be able to hear her.  I can imagine that we will eventually have two monitors because of the bedroom situation and another LO...who knows, though...

  • We actually just got ours. we live in a fairly small house, but we just got a surround sound for our tv and in the last few weeks there had been a few days i didnt hear him cry when i was in the living room. So we now have a monitor in the living room and the bedroom, and we will probably use it for a long time!

  • I'm in the same situation as you...and probably don't need to use it...but it makes me feel better on nights that I close both our door and hers.
  • We live in a 2 story 4 bedroom house.  We use it since DS goes to bed at 7 and we can't hear him downstairs in our living room.

  • DD is 6 months old.  She is a very light sleeper.  I can't leave the door open when she is napping or she will wake up.  If I am in the living room or kitchen, I can't hear her when she wakes up!

  • We live in a small 3 bdrm home and I can hear him in the living room if he starts to cry...

I think my main reason is I still have an insecurity..

We are using the angelcare and with him having heart surgery at three weeks old ... I need my little security.

    This.

Our video monitor is one of the best baby items we've bought.

  • Glad to know I'm not the only one! We registered for ours and actually got it at our shower (I was thinking long term for when we have a house and I put the baby down for a nap and I'm out playing with the other kids). However, I got paranoid (since my DH is a way heavy snorer (is that a word??) and I'm a heavy sleeper myself) since we close both doors and only keep his open a crack. We'll def. have the monitor moved to the new baby (bonus-I guess we won't be out buying a new one since we won't be moving soon!) once he/she is born.
  • DH plans on installing the camera inside a vent so we can spy on her to see if she sneaks out as a teenager.  LOL

    LOL!

  • We too live in a one story, 3br condo and still use ours.  But that's because we have the angel care monitor, so I like it for the movement sensor.  Otherwise, a monitor purely for sound purposes probably isn't necessary.

  • We still use ours. Technically, she just started sleeping in her crib at night since we transitioned from bed sharing most nights, so I basically cling to that thing.
