Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Am I the only one playing roulette?

I was on the mini pill for about 2 months and gained weight (definitely not diet related) so went off of it.  I EBF and haven't had a PP period yet.  We're not protecting even though we're not intending to TTC.

Anyone else?

I know.  Embarrassed  I'm hoping it takes a while.  We want our kids close together (18 months-2 years apart) so we will start actively TTC in May or June.  Right now we are just being stupid.

  • giiirrll...I am not playing with you!!  I take my pill everyday..but..we are pretty much set on being a one kid family so i'm fanatic about it.
  • Well before your lo is 6 months old, if you EBF, and have not had a period, it is 98% effective at preventing pregnancy BUT I'm sitting here as a 2%er. I'm at least 7 weeks along. Appt tomorrow. Good luck.

*raises hand*  that's us!  except we are ttc.  so far, unsuccessfully.  i WISH i was the 2% Sad

  • No you aren't alone...I was on the progestin only pill then my supply tanked and I remembered my diabetes counselor told me not to take that birth control because of the added risk of type 2 diabetes associated with women who had GD and taking the minipill...so I stopped...we try to use condoms but...
  • Were not using anything either. Just good ole pull and pray
  • We aren't using anything at all. We are not trying but we are not preventing either. But we did this method for 7yrs and it kept us from getting pregnant without meds.

Eeek!  How did you know you were pregnant?

If I ended up getting pregnant now we'd ultimately be excited... after I got over freaking out.

    Congratulations!

Us too!  Sex still hurts quite a bit (according to DH I am somehow tighter after giving birth, go figure) so we haven't been doing it a whole lot anyway.

thank you! I was having nausea for a couple of days but we all had colds so I thought it was just drainage making me sick. Then I cooked some turkey and could not stand it (I had a total meat aversion last time). So I thought I would just take a test to relieve my nerves. Wrong. It was positive right away. Then I took another one-a digital one. Also positive right away. I sobbed for a couple hours and had a few unstable days. Now I'm starting to be ok and maybe even excited. Also I had started having to go to the bathroom more often which was odd and my nipples were hurting when I bf. It was quite a shocker to us but dh is very excited. I never had the "warning" period that Kelleymom describes and I met all the criteria for the 98%. Ds never even had a pumped bottle or any formula ever. I had morning sickness at about 6 weeks before so I guess I'm prob that far along at least. I'm very nervous about my appt tomorrow-I thought I was done with labs and tests for a while. Kelleymom goes on and on about how RARE this is and it makes me feel like a bit of a "phenomenon" in a non positive way. But I'm trying to focus on the specialness of it.

This. We aren't very frequent since I'm still having some pain, but honestly we're just being stupid. The pill made my supply dip too low and condoms are a PITA.

  • We use condoms every time! I was actually just thinking today about how glad I am that I wasn't sexually active in high school because it seems like my body wants to get pregnant. I quit taking birth control on Dec. 6, 2008 because it was making me throw up every morning and got a BFP on Jan. 5, 2009. Now, I've been EBF since DS was born and just started my 2nd pp period! I want more kids, just not quite yet.
