cribs - drop sides or stationary?

new mom here, what is the point of drop sides?

please recommend your crib! :-)

To my understanding, most drop side cribs are being pulled after the massive recall on the storkcraft dropsides in recent news. That said, our cribs are from BRU and are the Graco Lauren Classic models. I love them! They are espresso but come in diff. shades. They did have a drop side of this but it has since been pulled from BRU.

I think most drop sides are being pulled for safety reasons. Our cribs are stationary sides.

i think most/all drop sides have been recalled - they are considered unsafe now.

we had a drop side for griffin - and never once dropped it... never needed to. We have the Ikea Leksvik cribs for the twins (stationary) and it's really easy to get them in/out - it's a lower profile crib- so if you are not tall they are great b/c not as high as some of the fancier cribs out there.

This. Stationary. Here's ours, I picked it out b/c it was so sturdy. Love it. (Ours is in Chestnut, which is actually a medium-tone wood stain, not this dark)

I have one of each. Being short as I am, I appriciated the drop side. But that was before the recalls and all that. Now its not an issue b/c I only really drop it to change the sheets.

I chose stationary because of safety concerns with drop sides. I have one from Target that I love, but they sadly no longer make. So we got our second from Penneys. It was a good value for the money and is well made.
