gender gift at the hospital

Is it still popular to give an 'It's a girl' gift to people who come and visit at the hospital? If you did this, any suggestions?

I know someone who made these adorable cookies with royal icing and then had the baby's initials on the cookies. We're not sure what we are naming the baby and I'm not Martha Stewart so the cookie thing might not work for me unless I get a super-nesting surge of energy. TIA!

Re: gender gift at the hospital

  • I think it's still a cute idea, I know that my fiance is planning on giving out cigars with a band with the baby's name on it. But I know people who have done cookies, cupcakes, or little edible pacifiers with the baby's name.

  • I am no help- we didnt' do anything.  The gender was a surprise for us too, so we would have had to send someone out ASAP or buy both gender items.  We did send out annoucements later introducing her.  We also didn't have a name for her until an hour before we left the hospital either Big Smile

  • We didn't do anything like that, either. Sent out Holiday/announcement cards, though. My MIL did, however, decorate the outside of our house with the shower decorations that read, "It's A Girl!" (We were unsure if Aubri would be a girl, since we didn't have a good shot with the 3 ultrasounds we got...)
