I'm reading this article (here's the link: https://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20342262,00.html )
And she says that he likes to imitate what she says and does, so if she says 'Mommy', he moves his mouth as if he's trying to say it. The article then goes on to quote her " "It won?t be long before he talks."
I just wonder...didn't she have her baby in December? So he's right around 2 months old. I know from talking to my mom and her friends that us kids don't start talking until 9ish months - and that was the earliest in our group. Or can they start talking earlier, at 3-4 months?
Re: Kendra talks about her baby...
Maybe he is just opening his mouth and she *thinks* it looks like he is talking. Babies that little can mimic things like when you stick your tongue out at them... they can do that as newborns, but clearly not talk
I have seen you tube videos of newborns mimicking sounds that sounded like words ( mama, i love you) but that is obviously not the norm, it's also just mimicking not actually talking.
At 9 months my son said dada and *tried* to say dog...he didn't say more words until much much later!!!!
My little cousin didn't talk until she was 16 months. She was so freaking spoiled she got her way by throwing herself on the floor and screaming and tapping you and pointing and something and going "uuunnnhhh". They broke her of that when they let her throw her fits and made her talk to get anything she wanted.
The little toot is smart! She was potty trained before she started talking. (13 months, I'm not even kidding about this. Her panties are way too big for her little butt. Her mom did the same thing as a baby.)
Woah, wait!? Your aunt went 4 weeks late!?
Genius baby! lol
DD didn't start making sounds until 6-7 months and she said her first word around 9 months. She still doesn't really say too much.
my friends baby sounded like she was always saying "hi" at 3 months but my friend told me that that was just what her coo sounded like so she would send text video to everyone saying "say hi smantha" and the baby would get all wiggly & say "hi"
it was adorable & unbelievable, until my friend corrected what i thought i saw.. very down to earth mom i'd say... i would be all "MY BABY SAYS HI!"
haa!
babies do pick up on body language quickly but can only really begin to acknowledge even sign language at 4 months, kendras whack,,, but tell me you knew that!
Yes, I definitely knew that...I was just confused by that and couldn't help but think if I missed something! LOL
Lol, my mom went 4 weeks late with me. She was due on April 2nd and I wasn't born until the 30th!
Carter would move his mouth at 2 months but he wasn't saying anything, lol. He was cooing and I loved it. He started saying "mama" and "dada" at about 5 or 6 months. Then "ball" "dog" and "Ry Ry" (his uncle Ryan) at about 7 months. And so on...
At 18 months he's just starting to repeat what we say (i.e. he said "cheese" for the camera yesterday after I said it.)
Carter Robert 7.18.08 | Brynn Sophia 5.24.10 | Reid Joseph 9.10.12 | Emerson Mae 1.27.14
My little sister was due on March 17th and she was born on April 20th. I think I'd shoot myself!!!!
Carter Robert 7.18.08 | Brynn Sophia 5.24.10 | Reid Joseph 9.10.12 | Emerson Mae 1.27.14
I definitely would! I cried at my 40 week 1 day appointment that they weren't sending me to the hospital immediately to be induced! I had to wait 4 more days!
My DD would babble around 4 months old. She'd say things like "babababababa" or "mamamamama" or "dadadadadada". But that's it until around 9 months or so.
ETA: All babies obviously develop differently. My DD was slower on the physical part, but super fast on the mental and verbal stuff. She was saying "dog", by 10 months. Then the words just started spilling out of her. But she didn't start crawling until 8 months old. Walking, 14-15 months.
She's definitely a talker now. She talks my ears off!
