DD is either getting super efficient or eating much less lately... she only goes for about 5 min on each side. I'm always worried since I have supply issues and have to supplement ~8 oz a day as it is
that sounds normal to me! my LO was nursing for about 5 minutes flat for awhile, and he was definitely getting enough (pooping 8 times a day). he was just really efficient. a month ago, he dropped 2 night feedings (went from 3-4 to 1-2), and he now nurses for 10 minutes total.
8-12 mins on one side and he's done... though lately he's been hanging out a bit longer, but i don't think he's eating the whole time, just soothing or something like that.
well, I'm coming on here early, she turns 3 months in a few days...
but she nurses about 15-30 min, depending. She loves to comfort nurse so she can be on for a while and not really swallow much. We also were mostly EP for a while but she's back on the breast about 50% of the time now, so I dont know if that affects anything.
we have been going backwards. she was nursing 10-15 min on one side only and then the past month she has been taking longer - more like 20-30 min on one side. She only nurses one side per feeding. i dont know what the deal is. I think she is comfort nursing mostly.
Wow... I wish! DD has never been that fast. Good grief. We're at 15 minutes each side and I thought that was good. I usaally spend about 30 minutes nursing.
#1 at 4 months took about 15-20 minutes. #2 has always been quick- he's done in about 5 minutes. If he eats for 10 I'm shocked. But he still eats every 3 hours even in the middle of the night so I wish he'd eat longer during the day.
Me: 30, DOR with a FSH of 12.5
DH: 31, no issues
4-6/2012 100mg of Clomid + trigger + IUI/TI = BFN
7/2012 150mg of Gonal-f + trigger + IUI = BFN
8/2012 Surprise unmedicated BFP!! Due May 8, 2013
DS is getting distracted now, at least maybe 3 out of the 5 time he eats everyday. Total amount of time eating is probably about 10-20 total switching sides, but it can still take about 30 minutes or so for the whole process since he is so curious.

That's interesting, AMY - my LO just shortened her nursing times, too!
Now she is at 5 min./side; she was at 7/side.
