Feedback on Clarendon Hills

My husband and I are house shopping in the Western burbs.  The closer to the city and LaGrange the better, since we both work downtown, and my parents (who will watch LO 2 days/week) are in LaGrange.  Clarendon Hills just appeared on our radar - the homes look charming, and the metra ride is not too long.

Anyone live there or grow up there?  Anything you can tell me about the neighborhood feel and nearby daycares would be appreciated.

TIA!

Re: Feedback on Clarendon Hills

  • My parents live in Downers Grove, which really close to Claredon Hills.  There are a lot of very cute homes there!  It is obviously close to malls, stores, etc so that is good.  I don't know about any daycares over there, but since it is near Oak Brook I can assume there are a few good ones.  It is for sure a nice place to live.  You can also check out Downers Grove, Western Springs, Hinsdale, etc.  They are close to Metra and LaGrange!  Hope this helps a little!

  • I grew up in Hinsdale, and my mom has now since moved to Clarendon Hills. Either one is a great place to raise kids--schools are excellent, close to Metra and major highways, etc. However, I personally would not choose to move back. A lot of the negative stereotypes about a high-income area like that are, well, true.
