I just throw a bunch of stuff in the crock pot. Onions, carrots, potatoes, meat, salt and pepper, bay leaves, rosemary, water... You can brown the meat first if you want, I usually don't.
Ive never browned meat first in a crock pot recipe that calls for it and it always turns out fine. The crock pot is for convenience and browning meat is not convenient, imo

I am making the same thing TODAY I do brown the meat on one side with all my spices on it. Onion powder, Garlic, and kosher salt. I put the meat in in the crock pot on the bottom. I fill the pot with beef stock and add whole baby carrots and mushrooms. We are using cabbage strips instead of noodles (just to trick our minds). In the last hour I add frozen mixed vegetables.

It's soooo easy and good! All I do is through the meat in, cut carrots, onions & potatoes up through that in, fill it up with water & seasoning salt, paper, garlic & crazy janes then let it cook all day

We love beef stew,
I don't brown my meat, rinse, salt/peper/garlic and then coat with flour- put in first.
Add onions, potatoes, carrots, celery and mushrooms.
2 cans of stewed tomatoes
I use a package of beef stew seasoning mixed with about a cup of water.
Let it cook for the day and it is wonderful! I will sometimes add a bit of water/flour mixture to thicken if it needs it.
Yum! Enjoy.
Thats what were having today too!
