Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How long did you wait for Sexy time?

We waited until last night (I'll be four weeks pp on Tuesday).  It went much better than I expected.  No pain at all!  Woo hoo!

Re: How long did you wait for Sexy time?

  • I waited the doctor recommended six weeks. I did not want to risk infection to a not healed yet uterus.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • 5 weeks... and it hurt so we had to stop. 6 weeks for real and it wasn't too bad. I thought it wouldn't hurt since I had a c-section, but it did!

  • I don't know how much longer I can wait!!! I got on top of DH this morning and almosy dry humped him like a high school girl.  Embarrassed
  • I was cleared at 6 weeks, but waited until 8 weeks PP. It hurt at first, but after a few minutes it was fine.

My doctor said as soon as the bleeding stops it is safe to start as this means the cervix is closed.  I wouldn't want to risk infection either!

exactly.  It's not worth the risk, IMO.

Also, It was a good thing too because at my 6 week appt. I was told that my tear was not entirely healed and while we could try it would probably be painful and to use PLENTY of lube.  We tried, it hurt and I could feel the skin wanting to tear again.  We tried a few days later and it was successful but slow going.  Had I not waited, I would not have been as cautious and slow and probably would have torn up again which would SUCK.

Oh I don't know... I find that tear or no tear going cautious and slow is the only way.

And I did wait the amount of time my doctor recommended.  They said it is completely fine and safe if you have totally stopped bleeding and I have.  I agree it isn't worth the risk.

  • Still haven't.  I was cleared at 6 weeks but told it would really hurt, go easy, and use lots of lube and that I should probably wait.  I've only stopped hurting a lot maybe the past week or so, but I feel so unsexy and down that I have no desire to try.

I think your doctor should go back to school. Even with a closed cervix, semen can get into your uterus.

I've always been told this by doctors both here in PA where I am now and in NJ.  The only time I was told to wait until the actual appt was with my first when I had a fourth degree tear they wanted to be sure didn't  open back up.  You should always follow your own doctors advice for sure and I'm certainly not faulting you for waiting.  Heck wait months if that is when you feel up to it.  I can definitely understand.  But, at the same time I don't feel it's at all risky for me to be ok with it now and I was just pointing out that I am following doctors orders.

And with three kids under the age of 4 we aren't letting semen get anywhere.  :)  I'm on the mini pill but taking extra precautions makes me feel better until we can get something more permanent done.

Jersey, it's a shame our doctors aren't as smart as Krissy. ::eyeroll::

  • 5 weeks, it hurt a little at first, but then was good. I also had a c-section.

I had a pp appt with my midwife at 2 weeks, she said it was ok as long as bleeding had stopped and I wanted to do it. I stopped bleeding at 4 weeks, and was ready to go at 5. 6 weeks is not a magical numer for everyone.

  • I had a c-section and we waited until the end of the 5th week. I hadn't had my 6 week pp check up yet, but we couldn't wait any longer (it had been months since we'd had sexy time). All was fine (a lil painful of course) and i'm happy to say our sex life is almost as good as it was before baby.

  • 2 weeks. My hubby is a very lucky man.  It felt really good though, although the next couple times hurt so we took it easy and used lots of lube.  My midwife never gave us any restrictions either, just kind of assumes that I know my own body.  fwiw, I had a very easy labor with no tearing.
