I am completely devistated. When I found out at 6 weeks that I was pregnant, my progesterone level was at 10.9. My fertility doc said that she wanted it around 15, so she put me on 100mg of progesterone taken vaginally at night. We had an ultrasound, and saw a perfect little 6 week nugget with a heartbeat. A week later, my progesterone was at 11. I was then transferred to an OB where at 9 weeks, we did another complete blood work up and found my progesterone had gone down to 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I started spotting! It started out light brown and went to light pink. My dr put me on 200mg of prometrium 3x a day. I have a sonogram scheduled for Tuesday to see how things are sticking.
Has anyone else been through this same situation?
This is my first pregnancy. We have been trying for almost 3 years now... and just trying not to break down ...
Re: Low Progesterone, spotting, prometrium, terrified...
I agree that you may need the Progesterone in oil injections. I did IVF to get pregnant so my body did not naturally produce Progesterone. I was on the injections for 10 weeks then moved to he suppository and Prometrium pills. I had 2 days of very mild spotting and a few weeks later soaked through 2 panty liners. It was nothing but it scared the daylights out of me. I was happy to stay on the injections longer, knowing it was the best way to get Progesterone. (They can't properly test your blood for Progesterone unless you take the injections.) I would ask your doc about the Progesterone in oil injections.
you need to demand that they put you on the injections...obviously the suppositories are not giving you what you need.
too much progesterone cannot hurt you...it can only assist in a viable pregnancy. I did the injection with my first pregnancy because while my beta was bfp, my progesterone was at ONE! with my 2nd pregnancy....I was on 400mg suppositories but once I got prego, my progesterone dipped from over 45 to 14...RE was not happy. I told them to put me back on the injections..I would rather give myself a shot everyday and be reassured that my p4 is where it needs to be.
good luck!
