Best field trip ever

I am a mentor to a 5th grade student. When I first met her I was nervous, she was so shy and everytime I asked her a question about herself she would give me a one word answer. Come to find out, that is why her Mom signed her up for the program, to bring her out of her shell. Well I am shy myself so it was a bit of challenge in the beginning. Fast forward 2 months and after having lunch with her once a week she has completely come out of her shell and talks all the time. Today we took a field trip and at the end of the day she said "This was the best field trip ever, I had such a good time." Oh it made my heart melt and then she said "So I will see you at lunch on Wednesday? I can't wait." She is such a sweetie, it just put me in the best mood!

I think that is awesome!! Being a mentor must be really rewarding and fulfilling. Good for you for making a HUGE difference in this lil girls life.
