after how many doses/days of antibiotics, should an ear infection

start to clear?  Maren's been on one for 3 1/2 days (7 doses) and is still holding her ear when she eats.  (That was the only symptom she had of one.)  I just want to make sure her ear drum does not rupture from antibiotics not working.  That happened to Noah.

    I'm not exactly sure, but Julia had one a few weeks ago and I feel like after 3 days she was feeling much better.  Hope she feels better soon!

    With B it would always be no more than two days.

    B had 3 ruptures as well, I know how you feel.

    I would take her back to the ped.

    DD has had lots of ear infections, but she gets zithromax (allergic to penicillen).  She always starts doing better after 24 hours.  3.5 days seems like a long time to show no improvement.

    Dd has had one since January 10th and has been on 3 antibiotics.  The last one finished up yesterday.  This morning she told me her ear still hurts.  She's ruptured this same eardrum 2x.  Dr. said it could take 6-8 wks before it is back to normal.
