Trouble TTC

TTC & Inconsistent menstrual cycles???

My cycles can range anywhere between 28 days to 32. This month I got my period on day 36? I have to admit last month was a stressful and I think it took a toll on my body. Deep down I was hoping I was pregnant but I was getting negative results when testing.

Anyone have wide range cycles like this? How the hek do you know when you ovulate? Way back when TTC baby #1 I used the pee sticks to test for ovulation and then finally bought the OV Watch. I only got to use it once and then we conceived. Now that we are trying for baby #2, I ordered new sensors and have been wearing the watch since October. It reads that I am fertile the 12th of each month so far. With my cycles beig so off, how can that be consistent? I just don't believe it.

So what are you girls doing to keep track. Any tips?

Re: TTC & Inconsistent menstrual cycles???

  • I don't think that 28 to 32 days cycles is inconsistent or that 1 36 day cycle is out of the ordinary.

  • That's not that abnormal of a range.  Stress can delay ovulation so there you go.  OPKs can predict when you may ovulate but only temping can confirm that you actually do ovulate.  Check out www.fertilityfriend.com for more on charting.

  • I've seen ladies on these board use OV watch while charting and the chart proved the watch was off by a whole week.  My natural ovulatory cycles ranged from 33-48 days, the anovulatory ones ranged from 30-55 days.

  • My cycles range from 29 to 33 days and I ovulate anywhere between day 16 and 20.  That is considered to be completely normal.  I use OPK's and chart my BBT.  I also use the website fertilityfriend.com - like other posters recommended.

  • The OVwatch can only tell you when you "might" be ovulating.  It does not confirm ovulation.

Check out Taking Charge of Your Fertility or fertilityfriend.com to learn about your cycle and what is considered "normal"  There are other ways of pinpointing ovulation

Maybe I'm being naive but I thought FF was just being helpful, not implying that we weren't.

I think it was the "elementary" word that threw me off, like we were too TTC snobby to answer the question, but I guess I just think the worst of AE's.  You're probably right, and I'm being a little sensitive this afternoon...
