If you feed your LO macaroni and cheese...

Do you make it homemade or use the kraft stuff? DD loves the kraft stuff but I don't give it to her that often since it can't be that healthy. Anyone have a good, EASY recipe? :)

  • I feed LO Annie's Organic mac n'cheese...he loves it.

DH tried the Kraft and he threw it on the floor - ha ha.

But - i believe you just mix cheese and milk together with pasta - pretty easy.

  • We use boxed stuff but never Kraft. Usually something organic. And I add 1 cup pureed mixed veggies or a few Tbsp of tomato puree to the sauce and make it with yogurt instead of milk, so I don't feel bad giving it to him the two times a month we make it.
  • OMG - I dont' know why mine posted 8 million times!!! sorry

  • We do Annie's Organic on rare occasions, but I usually just make it homemade. I usually just melt a very little bit of butter, add flour to make a roux, toss in some milk and shredded cheese. I stir until it melts and then add in the elbow noodles.
  • We have both and she likes them equally as much it seems. I figure if it is boxed, once or twice a month really won`t kill her and for those days she won`t eat anything it works really well!

  • We give her the Annie's stuff... which probably isn't much better than Kraft, honestly. When she's being picky, it's one of the only things she'll ALWAYS say yes to though, so she usually gets it 1-2 times a week.

My mom makes delish homemade mac and cheese, so I really need to get the recipe and start making/freezing big batches.

  • We do the individual servings of Annies when we have food we know he doesn't like. I try to mix in sweet potatoes, peas or broccoli if we have it.
  • My daughter loves Kraft or Velveeta.

I do this twice a month.  Mac & Cheese is a staple food over here!  I throw broccoli with the noodles and then just mix it all together.

  • Yup all the time. Kraft not orgnanic. I don't buy into all the organic stuff personlly. I guess that makes me a horrible mother. oh well.

I also make a homemade one twice a month usually. I make a rue for the cheese sauce, crush up ritz crackers ontop with more shredded cheese. Bake it till the cheese is a little browned. Zohhhh good.

  • i was in college the first time i EVER had kraft mac & cheese and i gagged.  i was used to the homemade stuff and that's what i make now.

it's easy.  just cook the macaroni,  drain.  put back in pot, add milk and cheese (we use cheddar b/c i hate american).  stir until creamy like.

sometimes if i'm feeling spry i'll put the mac&cheese in the oven and sprinkle shredded pepperjack on top and broil real quick.  mmm..

  • I will add that I always add mixed veggies & some kind of protien like chicken or beef to it. DD loves her mixed veggies.

  • I just boil the pasta and mix in some cheddar, butter, milk and salt(sometimes brocoli or spinach) and he loves it.  It doesn't take much time at all.
  • Once every couple of weeks I'll make him some Kraft. He hasn't grown any extra limbs yet, so we'll see how it goes.

I don't like homemade mac. I've never found a recipe without velveeta in it that doesn't turn out gritty.

  • I use the Kraft and slip veggies in it.

  • If you want SUPER easy just take your cooked noodle, add a bit of butter, sprinkle some parmesan cheese and you're all set.

Usually I make ours with wheat noodles, add butter, milk and either cheddar or monterey jack cheese with a sprinkle of oregano.  I sometimes add grated carrots, mashed squash (like butternut, etc.) to get an extra veggie in.

In addition to being healthier than Kraft, it's probably basically the same price (aka cheap) since you don't really have to buy anything special for it... all the ingredients will pretty much already be in your fridge.

  • And the Ronzoni Whole Wheat Pasta in the Purple packages tastes just like regular, with a whole lot of goodness hidden inside.  Don't try other whole wheat, go for the PURPLE!  Every other kind we've tried is GROSS.
  • I use Annie's white cheddar shells or their regular mac&cheese and mix in steamed chopped broccoli. DD loves it. My sister made her Kraft once, and DD spit it out and threw it on the floor.

    I also make homemade.

  • We do Annie's Bunnies sometimes, but DH is not a big mac n cheese fan. I luuuurve homemade mac n cheese and would make it all the time if it would be properly appreciated!
