This story is too long to get into every detail but here's the short one and a question for people with non-daycare center childcare.
Our sitter and/or her husband are sick "frequently" which leaves us scrambling to find childcare. (I'm talking sick and in the hospital) It's 95% of the time dumped on to my parents but I think they're getting a little sick of it (understandably so). How often are you in a jam regarding your regular childcare? What is "too frequent" to you? I'm just curious.
Re: ugh- scrambling for childcare again
We have NO family living closeby so this is one of the reasons we are at a center. We only take sick days when our little one is sick or the center is closed for holidays or annual staff meeting day! I don't know how we could make it work otherwise...DD can come to my work, but I can't keep her much more than 1/2 day b/f she is tearing apart my office.
I think my provider has had one non-scheduled day off in the three years we've used her. She did tell us the day before (her mom was sick) so it wasn't even all that last minute.
But I could work from home or call in or DH could stay home or my parents only live 5 blocks away or either of my grandma's only live 2 miles away or my aunt lives about 10 miles away so between all of that we can easily find alternate care. We've just never had to. I think if you have to find something else more than three times a year with no notice that is too much.
