Birth control and PPP?

I used the minipill while breatsfeeding which didnt work out due to supply issues. So I switched to a more normal birthcontrol pill with estrogen. I got a sample pack of loestrin and just recently finished the pack. I live 45 miles from the nearest town and have not been able to pick up my RX so havent started the next cycle. But i still never got a period. I know those that breast feed may not get one for months. My question is if anyone else has experienced this? I called my doctors office but they are out on fridays, so i asked here.

Also before i was married i tired three different pill types and always felt crazy. I would have big ups and downs So after getting married we decided to go free from anything and if we concieved we concieved. So along came Jack :) I afriad to go totally free again, becasue i dont think two is a good idea right now. My husband is two semesters from his accounting degreee and another baby would force him out of school. Has anyone else had this problem with birth control if so what was your solution?

Re: Birth control and PPP?

  • My AF has been nuts since Miles was born.  I used to be so regular that I KNEW I was pg the day I missed my period.  Now, it's ridiculous.  The first month that I started BC, I had a period that started before I was done with the 'active' pills, and then lasted 12 days. (Ugh)  This month, it came on the second day of the inactive pills and lasted 2 days.  I asked my OB, and she said it would take awhile to get back to a regular AF, regardless of BC. <shrug>

  • So good to know. I took a POAS test last night but thankfully was negative, i was the same way too. I knew the second day i shouldve had a period that i was pregnant.

  • The first three cycles or so after pregnancy tend to be completely wacky, so we're currently using a barrier method, but as soon as I get my first PP AF I'm going to start charting again and use the Fertility Awareness Method.  We used it for three and a half years to avoid pregnancy before trying to conceive our little guy.

It's easy to use once you learn the "rules," it's free, and -- best of all -- it doesn't mess with your body's natural hormones, so you don't have to worry about it making you crazy or sick or gain weight or whatever.

Right now another site I'm on is running an online course on NFP/FAM and is running a discount on those that enroll in the next week -- only $20 for two courses which should leave you completely ready to use charting for birth control or pregnancy achievement.  I'd highly recommend it!
