MMR vaccine

Did your child get it? Within the regular schedule or delayed? Was it given as MMR or was it separated out?

We hoped to separate it and E has already had the Rubella component; however, vaccine manufacturers have stopped doing that and it is currently only available as the single MMR vaccine.

    Bella got hers on the regular schedule as the full MMR and other than a slight fever 10 days later (which is completely normal/expected) she had no issues.

    We have not done it yet.  I plan to do it on 2/15 at his 2 year appointment.  I will not do any other vaccines at the time.  For some reason I am VERY uneasy about it.  Our doc tried to find a way to get the split, but it's not available right now (we are told).

    same here, we've followed the regular schedule for all vaccines and haven't had any issues.

    O got the MMR at his 18 month appointment after discussing with his pedi and delaying slightly - no problems, thankfully.

    We delayed ours, but not necessarily on purpose (I just was lazy and didn't schedule her 18 month appointment until, oh 20 months!).  Our pedi sees her patients b/t 15-18 months for that particular vaccine, and I didn't even schedule it until Char was over 18 months old, and then we kept pushing the appt back for various reasons.  So by the time she got it, she was close to 20 months old and there were no problems.

    I wanted to split the vaccine, too, but I have been told by numerous people (medical professionals) that it is nearly impossible to split now, so I just went ahead and got it as "scheduled" (LOL).  Charlotte didn't have any reaction and was/is perfectly fine.  

    If you're feeling uneasy and can't get it split up (which it sounds like no one will be able to anymore), just delay it.  It shouldn't be a big deal.

    Nope, he won't be getting it anytime soon.   I would consider it if they still manufactured the separate vaccines, but since they don't and have stated they won't, ds is not going to get it.

    The rubella part of the vaccine is manufactured with aborted fetal cells and I'm strongly against this.   So unless the process changes, I highly doubt we will ever give it to him.

    I saw this as well. Are there any studies still out there from any medical board that believe MMR is still linked to autism?

    There is a lot of info that autistic children are sensitive to heavy metals..  especially aluminum.  Vaccines contain high doses of aluminum.  I doubt there will ever be a published "link".  Too much pressure from drug companies..  I equate it to cigarettes and cancer.  How long did they know that they were linked before it came to the lime light?  Sadly too many things in the world are linked to money

    DD#1 got the MMR on schedule but we delayed the chicken pox one because both of these are live viruses (per my Dr) and I didn't want her to get both at the same time.  She did have a reaction to the MMR (low grade fever and also small red dots on her back), but Dr said that these are common.

    Oh I forgot - we also delayed the chicken pox vaccination in order to keep him from getting two live vaccinations at once.

    Thanks for sharing, ladies.  Like Bpaullo, I'm uneasy about this one in particular as well.  E's getting the MMR on Monday and we'll delay the Chickenpox vaccine for another time.
