Okay, so don't flame me on some of these. Not everyone is going to agree with me, but this is just to share....
1 - I swore I would NEVER have a baby sleep in my bed because it is so unsafe. Reality - that lasted 3 days (of NO Sleep for anyone). So, DS has been sleeping in a sleep wedge in our bed. Last night we finally got him to sleep in the bassinet though
2 - I swore I was going to EBF for the first 6 months. Reality - my milk never really came in. We tried everything recommended and could only get about 3 oz a day. We were supplementing with formula for a while, but now it's only formula.
3 - I swore I would never sit in the back seat with my baby while my husband drove. Reality- on our way home from the hospital, I road in the back seat because DS was crying (it made me cry). And a couple of other times I've sat back there to help soothe his crying.
4 - I swore I would not insist my baby is the best. Reality - he is. Okay, I'm a little bias.
Re: Things I swore during pregnancy....
I swore I'd never EP or give formula. I've done both!
Proud Mama to Mickey (12.03.09) and Nemo (06.06.13)
1. I swore I'd only breastfeed and that anyone who bought formula was insane. We were exclusively using formula at 3 weeks.
2. Anyone who wasted money on disposable diapers was also insane. I sold my entire CD stash when my son was 1 month old, we only use Pampers now.
3. My child was NEVER and I mean NEVER belly sleeping, he wouldn't sleep on his back and has slept on his belly since 4 weeks old
4. I was having an un-medicated birth, hahaha - I LOVED my Epi!!
I have way more, but those are the main ones.
Oh me too on the FB thing. But, seriously, why wouldn't everyone want to see pics of my cute little guy
We were all the BEST mothers....until we became mothers!
I swore I'd never cosleep. And DS would ONLY sleep in his crib or bassinet. And on and on and on!
Oh, and a big ditto on the FB thing. Doesn't everyone want to see updated photos of my kid once a week?
LOL! I totally did all of these as well! I remember making fun of someone who was riding in the backseat w/her LO while her husband drove-fast forward 6 months and I just started riding in the front seat like a week ago. After the first night of not one wink of sleep I also let LO sleep with us, although she, too, is in her bassinet now. And, I was sure I was going to ebf until at least 8 months- until I had barely any milk, DD was dehydrated, and now she breastfeeds and formula feeds (but mostly FF).
So funny that I can relate to all of these!
I swore I would EBF for at least 6 months and my boobs failed me as well. I have been FF since DD was 5 weeks old.
I also swore that I would never give my baby a pacifier, that lasted until DD was about 3 weeks.
We've definitely all got those things we went back on (my biggest was the pacifier, which he got at 3 days old because he thought I was a pacifier!).
But don't forget to be proud of all the things you DID stick to too!!
1. I swore I would never sleep with the baby due to the health risks. In reality I spent the first month sleeping with DD on my chest on the couch because that was the only way I could get any sleep.
2. I swore I was going to EBF. Reality - I lasted a month and a half because my milk never really came in. After a month of trying everything to increase my milk production and getting little to no sleep because of the crazy BF/pump schedule I was put on by the lactation specialist, LO is now exclusively FF.
3. I swore I would not give LO a pacifier. We lasted about a month without a pacifier, until we tried moving LO to her own bed. Now she uses a pacifier to calm herself for nap times and bed time.

1. We are still trying to get our DD to sleep in her crib. Sometimes she will sleep in her cosleeper, but most nights she insists on sleeping part of the night with us. I swore I would never do that.
2. I swore I would EBF for at least 8 months, so far so good, but I am already thinking about supplementing with formula.
