Question about your nursery- need lots of opinions

1.  Do you have a theme for your nursery?

2.  If not, do you have a color scheme?

I'm trying to make baby quilts to sell and I want to know what the most popular themes/ colors are for baby nurseries.  We did DS's nursery with a train theme, but I'd like to know what others are popular these days, especially for girls, since I don't have one.

Re: Question about your nursery- need lots of opinions

  • His bedding has some animals on it, but I wouldn't consider it a theme.  His room is a blueish grey with a brown strip.

  • Our bedding is kinda plain, but the art theme is forest critters in pastel colors (we're having a girl). I think bunnies are cute and would have gotten a quilt with them on it but my sister in law beat me to the chase.
  • I'd say the most popular themes for girls are butterflies, ladybugs, and shabby chic.

I'm not a theme person, so I'm having our girl's stuff custom made on etsy with some fabrics I liked.

  • We did pink and green and the theme is mainly birdies.  We bought the Penelope bedding from Pottery barn if that gives you a better idea and then did wall stickers with birdies on the walls.
  • Our theme is Classic Pooh.  When he gets too old for that, I guess we'll go with whatever he likes at the time.

  • We have a subtle woodlands theme, nothing too matchy matchy though.

The colors are blue, brown, white, and green accents. You can see pictures here (still in progress):

I've had a really hard time finding cute boys nursery items that aren't transportation related, jungle related, or based on a commercial character. So, I'd say there's a definite market need for something outside of that box (that doesn't cost a fortune).

  • His bedding is deer themed, and we have the matching pictures. Other than that, we just did brown, green and ivory/cream.

  • we're doing an ocean/under the sea theme.  the main colors are bright blue, pale blue & pale yellow.

  • We did a color scheme: aqua, red, limey green and I have a few birds scattered about.
  • we're doing winnie the pooh

  • We have a pink and green color scheme for our daughter, but no theme.

  • No theme - just very soft yellow walls with white furniture and pink accents.  I'm a fan of keeping things simple.

  • no theme - just chocolate brown, ivory, and blue. if it's a girl, we'll add some accents of pink or purple, but I personally like brown and blue for a girl as it is! our bedding has a bamboo motif, so it's maybe slightly asian? I have no idea  :)

  • Our bedding has fish on it, but we didn't do a fish theme or anything. Our colors are aqua blue and lime green.

  • We did a girly jungle. The fabrics are some greens, and brown and white zebra stripes. The quilt is green, white and brown with the jungle animals on it and some little orange accents. We painted the walls a muted orange on the bottom and a yellowish cream on top.

  • DS's was light blue, dark blue, and white.  There wasn't really a theme, but we did use some stars for decoration and a "twinkle twinkle..." wall quote.

Baby girl's nursery is light purple, dark purple, pink, green.   There isn't a theme, there are flowers and stripes in the fabric.

  • I kind of have a theme - woodland animals. My mom is making me this amazing baby quilt. When she was visiting she bought a little rug, some wall stickers, and a valance for the room that have little animals on them to match her quilt. Nothing else matches but for the most part it's navy blue, tan, and green.
  • No and no.

Our bedding is Skip Hop Mod Dots, so there are a lot of colors we can work with. The walls are neutral. The only "theme" we have going is the style of furniture which is pretty modern and streamlined. Square lines, clean corners, bright colors. Nothing is really matchy though.

  • We used browns and cream.  We don't have a theme per say, but we did put quite a few teddy bears in there.
