What do you pay for milk?

I was reading the post below about buying organic and someone said they could get a gallon of organic milk for 99 Cents on special.

In Atlanta, it is more like $4-$5 a gallon, and $2.50 to $3.50 for regular.

What do you pay for milk and where do you live?

Re: What do you pay for milk?

  • Texas.  Organic $5.49 and regular $2.49.

  • We pay 2.24 a gallon for 1% non-organic.  Organic is about 2x as much.  We go through 3-4 gallons a week, can't afford to buy organic.
  • Organic is like you said four to five and regular you can get at Kroger for 1.98

edited to add. I will take the price of milk over formula any day.

  • Indiana.

$5.39/gallon of organic milk (Organic Valley, I'm very picky about brands when it comes to dairy.)

I have no idea how much regular milk costs- I haven't bought a gallon of non-organic milk in at least 6-7 years.

  • MA 1/2 gallon organic is $3.19

  • Ditto about the $4-5 for organic, which I don't buy.

I just bought milk today for $1.69 for a gallon.

  • WTH...milk is about 4.00 a gallon here.  Organic is 6 or 7.
  • Maryland.

We pay $2.79 a gallon for milk, but that's at the commissary. Organic is about $4 there.

Out in the world, it's about $3.79 a gallon, with organic at least $1 more.

I'd do nothing but organic if I could get milk for .99 a gallon. Maybe that was a typo?

  • Ours is about $3.50 for organic, but it comes from a local farm.
  • I get the milk for 99 cents.  It is originally around $6 or $7 but they put it on manager's special when it is expiring rather then send it back.  The Fry's by our house has organic milk in the regular milk section and the organic section.  They carry at least 4 different brands.  I have discovered that the whole organic milk in the organic section almost always has a carton that needs to be sold in a day or two.  We go through it quickly and I don't think there is a huge demand for the whole milk so I almost always get it on sale.

  • Nebraska.  Just bought a 1/2 gallon of organic skim and it was $3.39.  Organic chocolate 1% was $3.79.
  • NE. $1.49 a gallon at Aldi. That's only reason I go in there.

I have no idea on organic.

    $5.99/half gallon for organic.

  • I'm in IL and it's $2.89 a gallon for skim milk. I have no clue how much organic milk runs.

  • $5.39 for a HALF gallon of hormone/antibiotic free milk.
  • $.99-$2.99, on Manager's special at my Kroger (it depends on how close to expiration it is). That is also how I buy my organic meat, butter, and eggs. I buy all of the clearance organic meat and butter that they have and freeze it. I regularly get organic beef for $1.49/lb, and find chicken quite often for about $3/lb.
  • Florida we pay $3 for non organic gallons and $5.50 for organic.  How on earth do you get milk for less than $3?  That would be awesome.

  • $5.49 for a gallon of organic. No idea what a reg gallon costs. I wonder why our organic is so expensive in TX! We go through almost 5 gallons a week!
