Placenta... not gross.

After the ultrasound last week the MW told me that my placenta is at the front, as opposed to the back like most women.  Does anyone else have their placenta at the front.  It acts as a cushion, which means it will be harder to feel the baby move from the outside and every time we use a doppler the heartbeat will sound farther away.  Not a big deal, just different I guess.

    Yep, I got me an anterior placenta.  FYI, I felt zero movement until about week 22.

    Me too - and like pp, I didn't feel much movement until 22-23 weeks.

    I have anterior placenta, too.  I started feeling the baby at about 18 weeks, but only because my baby is in the breech position.  I feel all the kicks down in my pelvis, way below my placenta.

    Yep, me too. I felt the first flutters very infrequently starting at 18 weeks. I didn't feel regular movement until 22 weeks. I feel her all the time now though!

    I have one anterior and one posterior (?) and have definitely only felt one baby :(   I hope  to start feeling Baby A soon, it's really sad to know there are 2 in there and I can only feel one.

    I have it too! Im just starting to feel little movements this week (im 20 weeks). My doctor said give baby about 3 more weeks and i should start feeling more! FINGERS CROSSED!  I didnt have this with my 1st child so its new to me! Other then cushioning movements it she said it isnt a problem!

    Yeah, I just found that out today! I went for my anatomy scan and my husband (knowing my anxiety-induced fears) said, "see honey, it's moving" I said, "yeah, I just can't feel it!" That's when the tech explained about the anterior placenta. It acts as a cushion (think kicking a pillow!) So now I'm just waiting-just an anxious, but less scared.

    my placenta is normal, and i actually still haven't felt a thing. i'm 21w today.

    I have an anterior placenta too. I felt the first movement at 17 weeks (I think, I am still not convinced it wasnt just gas, lol), but for the past 2-3 weeks now I have been feeling LO like crazy, it took me till about 22-23 weeks to really be sure she was moving in there. The doppler thing is a pain too. At my monthly appointments they seem to have to take forever to find the heartbeat, partly because of the placenta being at the front and partly because LO doesnt sit still, lol. Dont freak if you cant feel baby till a little later on, he/she will start moving like crazy eventually!
