Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Repost from Breastfeeding-Help!

I started back to work on Monday and am fortunate enough to bring my baby with me. However, he has really gotten off schedule since we have been coming to the office. He was feeding every 3 hours before but is wanting to feed every 2 to 2 1/2 now. My mom said it is because breast feeding is his security and he is not comfortable yet with his surroudings. At home, I can let him cry and do things to stretch out the time between feedings but at work I can't just let him scream. I am staying home tomorrow to hopefully get things back on track. What do I do?????

  • i'm no help, just curious where you work that you get to bring your baby?

  • I am a real estate agent and also manage our office. I work for my uncle and he is a very family oriented man and very generous. It is a great environment to bring the baby to, but I still have to be courteous and not let him scream and disturb everyone else. I am also right across the hall from our bookeeper (who is a real jerk sometimes).
  • He is probably going through a growth spurt and NEEDS to eat every 2-21/2 hours.  That is normal.  And why would you let a 9 week old scream??

I don't let him "scream". But babies do cry.

  • The only thing that's consistent about babies is how inconsistent they can be. What they do one week doesn't mean that's waht they'll do next week.

I think you should try to relax, feed him when he wants to eat, and see what next week brings. Trying to "get him back on track" is likely to just frustrate the both of you.
