Hi, I have suffered from hyperprolactinemia all my life. It is caused
by a microadenoma, a small benign tumor on my pituitary gland. It
controls my prolactin levels and confuses my body, so with out
medication (dostinex) my periods come and go as they please, or fail to
show at all for months at a time. I got pregnant shockingly back in
July and lost the baby at 7.5 weeks. Have been taking Dostinex to help
the levels get better and after 2 months the dose wasn't strong enough,
but now have increased my dose. My Dr is going to help me by putting me
on 2 months of birth control pills (Loestrin) to regulate my periods
and then take me off the dostinex and put me on clomid with estrogen
and progesterone therapy. Has anyone on here had anything similar
happen in their life or had success with this? Please respond! This
hopeful Mama is believing and praying in faith that it will work!

Also please ignore the tag at the end with the baby's due date. That
was when I was pregnant before and I don't know how to remove it!
Re: Hyperprolactinemia and loss. Successful treatments? Anyone experienced this?
My miscarriages were caused by increased prolactin levels decreasing my progesterone due to breastfeeding. Once I stopped bfing and my hormones regulated, I got pregnant quickly and it stuck. It's not quite the same situation, but I guess in a sense I'm a success story that if you can get them regulated, you have a very strong chance at a healthy pregnancy. Good luck, hon.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I was diagnosed with high prolactin and given Dostinex a few months after my miscarriage. Since then, I used clomid for a few cycles to produce a strong ovulation, and each cycle I took it I did ovulate, which had been an issue for me. I recently got pregnant on a break cycle, at which point discontinued the Dostinex, and started progesterone supplements.
Have you had your thyroid checked? I didn't realize until looked up hyperprolactinemia that they were often seen together. I've had thyroid issues for many years, so thought that the link was interesting.
Good luck, I hope that you are pregnant with your forever baby very soon.
