We are going to be replacing our living room carpet soon. We are serioulsy considering getting hard wood/laminate but I am concerned about DD crawling and it being hard on her knees.
If you have hardwood floors/laminate, how is LO doing with crawling on it? would you recommend it?

This was my next question. Thanks.
We just got rid of our shag carpet for laminate/wood flooring about 3 weeks ago. It took DS a few days to adjust to it b/c he would slip when pulling up, but now he's fine. Crawling isn't any different, his knees are fine.
I do clean it more. I sweep every day now which is a good thing. It grosses me out to think about how dirty the carpet would have been b/c I vaccumed every 2-3 days...ew.
ETA: We have a foam playmat for him to play on although he seems to be everywhere but on it.
Our entire house in hardwood floors. They have not hindered DD's crawling/development in any way. She began crawling at 6M and is nearly walking at 10M (standing unassisted). She is super careful by nature (perfectionist) and has never fallen and hit her head on the floors. Since it is winter, she wears pants most of the time so her knees are fine. Sometimes I just throw on some baby legs for extra padding. However, babies are MADE for crawling and def don't need a carpeted surface to thrive.
If I were you I would make your decision based on looks/home value, ease of use/cleaning, cost, your comfort, etc.
We have all hardwood on the main level of our house, and E does fine on it. She doesn't seem to mind falling on it any more than she does in our carpeted basement. I was worried about her slipping on it when she started to walk, but she's been walking for a few weeks now and it hasn't been a problem.
