Working out while pregnant

I had my first workout while pregnant tonight, I'm about 7 weeks.  (Most days I've felt too exhausted or queasy to even think about the gym!)  I stayed at or below a 140 heart rate and didn't do anything too crazy.  During the workout I felt great but after I've had some mild cramping, more than I've had for the past few weeks.  I'm guessing this is just from working my muscles but I wanted to know if anyone else noticed this.

  • I had the same thing happen to me.  I used to work out about 3 times a week before I got pregnant, never anything to crazy, then when I got pregnant I stopped for a month and once I started up I had the same problem with the slight cramping.  My doctor said working out was fine, especially if you had been doing it prior to being pregnant, as long as you don't try to do more than you did before you were pregnant.   Obviously no abs, but everything else was okay to do and I am still working out and I only have a month left to go.   Hope that helps some.

  • If you have cramping you should probably take it easy, or just ease up on your workout.  That's how I was.
  • I would take it easy after your workout and make sure to drink plenty of water.
