DS will NOT go to bed for DH...any ideas?

Gavin has only been wanting me to put him to bed (actually to do anything...take him to the bathroom, get his milk, play with him, etc).  Bedtime is awful when DH tries to do it.  Gavin just gets up and cries, "I want Mommy" over and over until I go up and put him to bed.  I don't know what to do.  I've tried just going up and saying "good night" and giving him a hug/kiss after DH does most of the routine, but that doesn't work either.  We both follow the exact same routine, he's just going through a major Mommy phase.  We've been making sure that he and DH get some time together.  Gavin's fine if I'm not here for bedtime, it's just when I'm here.  I don't know what to do to make it easier on him (and DH, he feels horrible).

  • If he's fine when you're gone, I'd leave at bedtime for a few days. Even it it just means going into the garage.

  • I am not going to be much help because we are going through this exact same thing now.  Last night DS threw a big fit.  DH came in and said "why don't you just go lay with him" I told him I thought that would defeat his authority.  He said he didn't care but DS wouldn't fall asleep until I went in there.  So I went in and told DS that there are going to be days that daddy will put him to bed and he needs to think of those days as special days that he gets daddy at bedtime.  After saying other things I asked what are you going to do next time daddy puts you to bed and he said be happy and know it's a special time....so he got something.  Now we will see what happens in a couple min when it's bedtimem :o)
