Bottle Warmer

I registered for one of these that keeps bottles cold and then warms them. I received it today and I am really starting to think I will not need one. I plan to BF if everything works out. Do you think these are a waste or are they a great product that I will use daily? Thanks!

Re: Bottle Warmer

  • Waste. we were given one as a gift ( we didnt register for it) and we tried it a few times. its just as quick to heat water in the microwave and stick the bottle in it to heat. The warmer never worked all that well and spilled hot water on the counter.we used teh microwave it was quicker and one less thing I had to keep out on my counter daily.

  • Waste.  If you have a pan and a stove to heat up hot water or even a microwave and bowl you are good to go.

  • i never had one and never wished i had one.  she drank cold milk from the beginning with absolutely no complaints!  warming a bottle would have felt like so much work when a hungry baby is crying

  • Waste. I EBF'd DD, though she did get bottles on the days I went to work. We'd thaw the frozen BM, but made the conscious decision to give it to her at different temps- cool, lukewarm, warm...

Pedi warned us about this too- said if we got DD used to WARM bottles, then that's all she'd take. Same thing with wipe warmers, actually. You get your kid used to being wiped with a warm cloth, then they'll FREAK if/when you need to use a cool/cold wipe!

  • NOTE, however, that bottles of breast milk shouldn't be put in the microwave.  So, if you don't use the warmer (which is fine), you should thaw frozen milk in a cup of hot water.

Who said anything about putting milk in the microwave??  I said to put the WATER in the microwave, not the milk.

  • I registered for the same one I think you are talking about.  It isn't terribly expensive so if I don't use it I won't feel too guilty about it.  From the reviews I read of it, sounds like moms like it.  Especially if their house is 2 stories than they don't have to go downstairs in the middle of the night to heat up a bottle.  I'll give it a try, it sounds like a good idea but who knows.

From my friends I've heard mixed reviews, either - "I couldn't of lived without a bottle warmer" of "don't get a bottle warmer, you'll never use it"
