DS likes to sit up with some help, but once they can sit up without assistance do they still like it? Also, is there a size limit? I have a bigger baby, so fit is also a consideration.
DD has very chunky thighs so it would actually get stuck when I tried taking her out of it. I was using it when we started solids but now she sits in her high chair. So for me I didn't use it very long. My mother hated it (she is so anti new age baby products). So in my opinion, I could have done without out it.
We only used it a handfull of times before she was sitting on her own. She never liked it, it puts them in kind of an odd position. I tried to used it a few times lately and she tries to get out of it within seconds.
FWIW, everyother post on craigslist in my area is for a Bumbo. So I'm thinking many people didnt get much use out of them.
Buy a used one off Craig's List or whatever. You won't be able to tell the difference. They just wipe clean.
We used them until A was 5 months, because his thighs got too big and L used his until 6 months, off and on. With two babies, they were a heaven sent item to be able to put one or both down for a few minutes when they didn't want to lie down, but I know lots of moms with one baby that say they weren't worth the money.
My DS is almost 8 months and about 21 lbs and we just used ours last night. We don't use it much, but we were eating dinner on the couch (shame on us) and DS wanted to be up where the action is, so we put the bumbo on the couch between us and he sits with us and plays with toys. I'll probably hold onto it a bit longer as it does come in handy occassionaly.
ETA: I should mention that we used it quite a bit once he was able to sit assisted pretty well. We took it with us when we went to friends or families for dinner. He would sit in that and while we ate. Hey used it a bit in daycare with him so he could sit up and see the action and play without having to have someone hold all the time as well. I would buy one on Craigslist or something like that as they are expensive and they're so durable that a used one will be as good as a new one.
Yes fit is a consideration. I started using it around 3 month and now he really doesn't fit without getting his legs stuck so we just use a high chair. I got it at my shower and got the tray table. I enjoyed using it, but maybe consider buying one used?
DS used the one we borrowed oh, about eight times total. Once he had some semblance of sitting up on his own, he wanted to be on the floor. (Usually with me or a Boppy behind him.)
We borrowed one from SIL. I think we might have used it half a dozen times. Between the CDs making it hard for him to sit in it, him being a bigger baby, and us preferring to teach him to sit on the floor or with us, it was pretty pointless. I am very glad we didn't buy one.

DD actually got a lot of use out of hers, she still uses it sometimes when im at work because i dont have a highchair so she uses that for her finger foods at lunch. She is only 19 lbs though.
Love ours and use it all the time for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's perfect for meal time, cause she can't wiggle away from us. We haven't had to get a high chair, because the bumbo works so perfectly. DD is 8 months and she still fits, although she is long and skinny. I know sometimes with bigger babies, it's a tight squeeze.
We used it until she was 5 months old, then her legs got too big for it. She liked to sit in it on the counter and watch me cook. (trust me though, I didn't take my eyes off her while she was up there!) And when we first introduced solids at 4 months she sat in there to eat.
We still use ours and have used it since 4 months. DD is a meaty kid at 97%tile and it still works for us. I love it and will put it in the car when we go to peoples houses for dinner to set her in.

Still use ours everyday - it lives on our kitchen counter (we have a BIG island like counter and he's in the middle). I put him in it every single morning while I get my lunch together ...so like 5 minutes max. His thighs are just now starting to get too chunky...
Got is used on ebay for $5.00 plus $10 s/h. We still use it. Especally if I am in the kitchen and just want him to be with me. I doesn't try to wiggle out of it or anything.
I only used it a few times too. When I got to a point where I thought he would use it, he would twist sideways and try and get out. I wouldn't reccomend it.
My DS is also a bigger baby with chunky little thighs, and we used the Bumbo for such a short period of time that I'm not sure it's worth spending $40 on ($50 if you purchase the tray). We're planning on having another LO, so we'll save it for the next baby and hope that they're able to sit in the Bumbo.

Used it like 3 times. She hated it, and she is a "bigger" girl, so her legs kept getting stuck in it.
THe cat liked sitting in it though.
For us, it was a total waste of 30 bucks. Total.
