Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Who cleans like mad when baby is sleeping?

I'm sick of people telling me "sleep when the baby sleeps".  I can't do this during the day.  I'm just not made that way.  I know it seems silly, but as soon as my LO falls asleep, I'm cleaning like crazy.  I can't help it.  I need a some-what clean and organized home in order to function and be happy.  I almost feel guilty and I don't even know why.  I did the same thing after my DD was born.  My sister is the same way.  Maybe it's a genetic disorder?  ha ha

Anyone else cleaning like mad during LO's naps?

  • If I didn't do this it would never get done. DH is good at a lot of things, but cleaning daily (completely) is not one of them.

  • Yup! I'm either cleaning or on my computer. Both of those things make me happy lol I also can't deal with my house being unorganized. I need to have things in their place and have the house looking spotless.

The only time I have fallen asleep with my little girl is on weekends when my husband goes to the gym. So it's about a 2hr nap. During the week I'm constantly doing things.

My Mom, her sister, and my sister are the same way... it must be genetic haha.

  • I do!  She sleeps for about 3 hour stretches.. so I usually clean like mad and get laundry done and folded and then sit down and rest and watch a little boob tube, then she wakes up and eats and poops and burps, then we play for a little bit, then i lay her on the floor to look around and have fun while i clean a little bit more or pump.. then she eats a little bit more and falls back asleep, so total awake time usually no more than an hour... but i know that she is still young and sleeping ALOT so i'm enjoying her asleep time while i still can..

  • (raises hand)

I can't stand a messy house.  Can't think in it.  My b!tchness is in direct proportion to the number of dishes in my sink.

  • I wish I had the energy. I'm so tired fro DD waking up every 2 hours at night. I keep the house picked up, but hardly ever get around to doing any sort of deep cleaning. Hopefully i'll have time this weekend when DH is home to help me with DD.

  • That was me today. While DS slept I showered, got myself ready, vacuumed, dusted and cleaned the kitchen.  I rested while he napped when later but, it felt so good to power clean for that hour and half or so this morning.

  • It is genetic - my mom and I are the same!

I clean, eat lunch, do laundry and shower.

  • I do! But lately she only naps for about 3 hours total during the day, and I use half that eating and cleaning myself up. But I do still spend the rest cleaning the house! There's so little time to clean, it would be  a disaster if I didn't.
  • We have a house cleaner every other week, so I mostly just worry about laundry, dishes and maintenance. It really depends on the day--yesterday I cleaned in the afternoon when DD was sleeping and today I snuggled with her on the couch for the first part of her nap and am now just playing on the internet.

I think a balance is important.
