I've scoured the usual suspects (Land of Nod, Pottery Barn, Ikea, local furniture stores, etc.) and nothing is really jumping out at me - or if it is, it's wicked expensive ($1600 pirate bed from PBK anyone? My husband would collapse if I really suggested this).
So, inspire me!
Re: Where did you buy your toddler's twin/full size bed?
Honestly, we got our kids' bed frames at Wal-mart. They're the "captain's" style bed with drawers underneath the frame and a shelf as the top headboard. DD's is "white pine" and DS's is "maple". You would never know they're pretty much crappy furniture from Wal-Mart. They're very practical and they look -- well, not "stylish" -- but unobtrusive.
Honestly, both of my kids' bedrooms are filled with so many toys, so many wacky decorations (posters, their own artwork, stickers, etc.) of their choosing, and so much other junk that to try to buy something expensive to preserve a sense of "decorative style" in their rooms is futile.
When DD is old enough to make a sane choice about furniture, we'll consider buying her a nice bedroom set. Until then we're sticking with practical and inexpensive all the way.

got her a twin daybed.
We got the Catalina bed from PBK. With the sale price, it was pretty comparable to what we saw at local furniture stores.
I was kind of shocked at how expensive twin beds can be! Especially if you want more than a metal frame and/or headboard.
